Re: Modern football things you don't like

I imagine Strand Larsen is celebrating a signing on fee the size of which he would never believe he'd get if its based on a percentage of the transfer fee.

Re: Modern football things you don't like

Yes maybe there are more long throws right now, but there have also always been some long throws in the game, and so we dont need every long throw accompanied by a commentator telling us 'long throws are back' I was tempted to start an (Un-)Athletico FC thread. Were you put together the most unathl...

Re: Weekend Football

I think what the Spurs fans believe is the Spurs way differs massively from what everyone else thinks of as the Spurs way. I mean we all just think its means a bit of a shambles don't we?

Re: ArsenaLOL

No idea whether stats back me up but if Arsenal don’t score from set plays or something created by the wingers getting to the byline they don’t seem to score. Yes it is difficult to stop but it’s all too predictable. All the recent talk has been about Man Utd getting Tuchel, Ancelotti, Alonso next ...

Re: Afcon 2025

Best was the commentator asking if he'd done it on purpose cos it was such a soft penalty to give. Ignoring the fact that Brahin was at that point in tears and he was he one who had fallen over to try and con a penalty and had been going mental at the ref and assistant for not giving it before VAR ...

Re: The generic transfer thread

At the moment City have centre-backs in Dias, Gvardiol, Khusanov, Ake, Alleyn and Stones with Akanji out on loan although Pep often plays Gvardiol at left-back. So I guess he would only want Guehi if he lets Stones and/or Ake leave. Stones is permanently crocked, he'll be allowed to leave soon and ...

Re: The generic transfer thread

Pull the LFC scarf down from covering your eyes for a second or two and look at the league table. City gives him pretty much guaranteed* Champions League football next season, Liverpool are in a fight for the last spot. But honestly at the moment City would look the more appealing option. * F...

Would imagine City's interest in Maresca would have cooled in the last month or so.

Re: Players at clubs who you had completely forgotten about

Also mental that he never moved house when he signed for Newcastle from Blackburn and commuted every day  google maps says that 3 hour drive each way  He stayed in Leeds (or outskirts somewhere) and commuted from there to Blackburn and then Newcastle didn't he? Wouldn't fancy either dri...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Stockport County (h)

Yeah, agreed. It does feel like Wing enjoys his time at the club and the area but he'll be 31 at the end of the season and so far probably having his best season with us right now, he's probably at the point where he needs to have another crack at Championship level. Not sure he'll get offers. Not ...

Re: Richardson out

Don't forget the added bonus now of trying to get players in for what looks like a relegation battle. At least in the summer we'd just missed out on the playoffs and had new owners so looked a much better prospect than now.

Re: Weekend Football

City still look a bit fragile to me. They're fine when they dominate possession and are on the attack but seem vulnerable to a quick counter attack without a peak form Rodri in there.

Re: The worst performance since........

Yeah, that had the same affect on me thinking about my life choices and I'd only driven across from Leeds. A truly awful performance. Up there with getting spanked 6-0 by Tranmere in '97, god knows how Bullivant stayed in his job for months and months after that. Can remember thinking how stark a co...

Royal Rother Lampard is doing an amazing job there. Fair play.

Yeah, I've previously slagged him off but hats off to him for rebuilding his managerial career.

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

Even given the emotional pull he has for Wolves its an odd move for Edwards, Felt like Middlesbrough was a chance for him to reverse the downward trend his managerial career was taking. He was doing a good job and on track for getting into the playoff which would be seen as a successful season for t...

Extended-Phenotype When he jumps he is somehow lower in the air than he was when he was standing. It’s like he jumps inside himself like a oxf*rd accordion.

The technical term for this is an Asaba.

I also think Jota's death has had a big impact on the squad. Not really surprised this season has gone this way.
