Re: Diogo Jota has died

They get a lot of stick but Chelsea and their players deserve credit for donating some of their world club cup winnings to Diogo’s and Andre’s families: https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11668/13411603/chelsea-to-donate-portion-of-club-world-cup-prize-money-to-family-of-diogo-jota-and-andre-s...

Re: Rival Watch

Fed did the same against Stoke opening day at home iirc. As well as semi final of Cup v Gooners. Seems to be a theme going on here. Did Feds ever go to Specsavers? I still remember the Peterborough cup game where he was incapable of covering his bottom corners as well. Not to mention West Brom away...

Re: Rival Watch

Yeah, seem to remember it was Chelsea away when we went 2-1 up and were momentarily top of the league. Momentarily? Wasn't it 45 minutes or so? Seem to recall we should really have had a third before half time and Torres' goal (the Chavsea third) was about 25 miles offside. It started with Fedders ...

Re: Rival Watch

Just saw "Rival Watch - Mr Angry" on the front page, was wondering who Mr Angry's rivals were (Mr Calm maybe?) until I realised I was reading a combination of the title and the last poster to post on it  https://media.balls.ie/uploads/2012/08/READING-PISS-OFF.gif This will never, ev...

Re: The generic transfer thread

In terms of management and motivation it is exactly like that - the only difference, as I said is that players have a book value :

The only real difference here is that transfer fees are involved.

Re: The generic transfer thread

They can force the player to play, but how good and motivated will he be? In the words of Steve Coppell, quoting an agent talking to him " If you don't give my player a transfer he'll be a very unhappy player. And we all know how a very unhappy player plays... " Just a sign of how much pow...

Can't imagine he has much love for Reading given he never really had a proper chance here (rightly or wrongly). I'd be surprised if that's his attitude. The club treated him very fairly and co-operatively - he was too yound and inexperienced to get into what was then a PL first-team, and the club s...

Re: England - the future....

You have to say, for all that's wrong with the EPPP in the way it disadvantages smaller clubs, fifteen years after it started it really is working well and producing some real gems. The problem for future England managers is likely to be how to pick from so much talent and blend it together, rather ...

Egad, Sky want to give us more money when we really rather need it. What bastards. The facility fee for EFL televised matches is the square root of bugger all. The EFL justify this by saying they need this number of televised games to get a decent fee from Sky across the season, and it's that money...

Re: Womens euros 2025

I think part of the problem may be that the overall standard of goalkeeping in the women's game is pretty poor - so players never really have to develop penalty-taking skills to any great standard in order to be successful with penalties. But when they come up against 'keepers at the top clubs/count...

Yep - and the speed of passing, the movement and the tactical awareness of both teams (but especially the Spanish) was outstanding - and noticeably improving every year. Probably significant that the four semi-finalists are the four countries with the best-financed domestic leagues in Europe, so the...
