Re: The generic transfer thread

The brutal world of being a footballer/commodity. Aarón Anselmino was signed by Chelsea from Boca Juniors 18 months ago. He stayed at Boca for six months, and then was loaned to Dortmund. He earned a place in the side only to be recalled from Germany after Chelsea failed to sign Jeremy Jacquet. Back...

Re: Champions League, Europa League & Europa Vauxhall Conference League 25/26

With that^ being said, we had City v Real in R32 last year, Liverpool v PSG in R16, and Real played Atletico. This year, City v Real or Inter likely in R16, possibly Barcelona v PSG too.

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

Jeremie Frimpong missed 12 games to injury in six seasons at Celtic and Leverkusen. He's now on his third hamstring injury since arriving at Liverpool Another defender gone and still no incoming likely. They have given up haven’t they. Some broad sympathy with not spending - I've been critica...

Re: How best to approach the rest of the season

Solid season. After losing our first three, just five defeats in 24 games. As Paps says, turn a few draws into wins and we might challenge for the playoffs. But I don't think we're a promotion side. I won't be disappointed at all if we finish somewhere between 7th and 15th. We don't look like a team...

Potential R16 opponents for England's five top-8 teams... Arsenal - Atalanta, Leverkusen, Dortmund, Olympiakos Liverpool - Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Club Brugge, Galatasaray Spurs - Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Club Brugge, Galatasaray Chelsea - PSG, Newcastle, Monaco, Qarabag City - Real Madrid, Int...

Re: Champions League, Europa League & Europa Vauxhall Conference League 25/26

Real, Inter and PSG (and Juventus) in the play-offs. Half of the top 8 is going to get absolutely shafted again. Football is theatre, isn't it. Trubin wasting time, Benfica suddenly realise they need a goal, Mourinho, so long without one of those 'Mourinho moments' frantically waves his keeper...

Re: Weekend Football

Yes to all that. I keep saying I don’t think Arteta has what it takes to win the PL, and their display yesterday did nothing to dispel that thought but if City are going to be that bad then maybe Arsenal will, almost by default. Guehi could make the difference I suppose. Or maybe Havertz can make t...

Re: Weekend Football

Third and final strike for Milutin Osmajic? He was banned for 8 matches when at Blackburn for biting an opponent, got a 9 match ban for racial abuse after moving to Preston, and tonight he's headbutted Hull's John Lundstrum.

Re: The generic transfer thread

No guarantee of CL, and the possibility of Slot being sacked prolly don't help 'I've moved to the best club in the country'. Or words to that effect. You're right, their performances in the last couple of months have probably done it, but the speed with which this deal fell apart for Liverpool is w...

Re: The generic transfer thread

Being suggested that Marc Guehi is close to joining Man City I'm amazed to be honest that Liverpool have 'let' this transfer happen. How were they not all over Guehi to make sure he moved to them? Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

Nancy sacked by Celtic after just eight games in charge, of which he managed to lose a barely fathomable six. At Celtic. And after Martin O'Neill had won seven of his eight games in interim charge.

Brendan Rodgers, sacked in October, had only lost nine games since the start of 2024.

Re: The generic transfer thread

Niclas Fullkrug had a good record in the Bundesliga and an excellent one for Germany. Useless and/or injured at West Ham, with just three goals in 29 appearances. He's joined Milan on loan, weirdly.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Burton Albion (h)

30 points from 18 games since our awful start to the season, which is playoff form. Encouraging stuff. That said - whilst I know Brogue is doing a 'thing' - we've beaten no-one higher than 7th place Stevenage this season, so playoffs looks a real push for us. Chance to better that record against Sto...

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

Pep Guardiola about to get Xabi Alonso the Liverpool managers job. This does feel like a 'pieces falling into place' situation. I'd missed this, others probably haven't - Alonso's contract at Leverkusen stipulated that he would be free to talk to any of the clubs he had previously played for, plus ...

Rob Edwards leaving Middlesbrough for Wolves has got to rank as one of the most stupid managerial career decisions of all time.

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

Harry Kane comes on as a 61st minute sub and scores a hat-trick They've only dropped 2 points so far this season. Reckon they could get the most points ever in the Bundesliga this season. Makes up for 'only' two goals in his last five league games. He's got 17 goals in 13 league games now this seas...
