Re: Confimred Mark O'Mahony

So, it`s gone very quiet, with Marriott and Keane on board do we really need him still here? no word from the club and I`d imagine Brighton aren`t too happy with him not getting game time. I thought it was stated that Brighton refused to take him back because there was no interest from any other cl...

3½ year contract. Gives him time to establish himself and get sold for a shit ton of money.

Re: The window closes at 7pm on Monday 2nd February

I know nothing about him other than he's made a handful of cup appearances for Villa and Ashley is not his dad.

Re: Play-off/relegation watch.

I'm not really looking at the playoffs, not that I'm writing them off this season. Take steps forward and see what the season brings. We are a where we deserve to be at the moment. I'm not worried about relegation. I think we've had a decent window. Keane has 2 in 2 starts, Roberts a goal, an assist...

Re: The window closes at 7pm on Monday 2nd February

Seems common sense that if they're not getting games in a mid table league 1 team, then League 2 is going to be the absolutely ceiling.

To be fair though, for academy players, it's all about getting them game time and getting used to the routine and physicality of men's football.

Re: Confimred - Benn Ward

Any signing is a gamble, particularly a player with no experience at this level but on paper, looks to be an extremely good signing. Young, big, solid and decent on the ball, and to be fair to him he was picked up from non league by a Premier League academy so must have something about him. Looks li...

Re: Weekend Football

Yes to all that. I keep saying I don’t think Arteta has what it takes to win the PL, and their display yesterday did nothing to dispel that thought but if City are going to be that bad then maybe Arsenal will, almost by default. Guehi could make the difference I suppose. Or maybe Havertz can make t...

Re: One more in.

Happier with Benn Ward than Ricardo Santos, if I'm honest.

The obvious question is £500,000 up front or a structured deal?

Re: One more in.

It was Paul Bodin who got sent off for being Gareth Davies. Easy mistake to make, both Welsh, both ginger...... Of course we weren't going to appeal it, Davies was an up and coming young central defender with the suave, sophisticated looks of a proto Sidwell whereas Bodin was an aging ex Swine full ...

Re: One more in.

Pity subloaning isn't allowed. I never realised it was until 2022 (?). I believe there was a player that Reading took “on loan” from West Ham in the 1920’s and at the end of the season Reading sold him :o   I'd love this to be true. I remember reading about this. I believe we tried to sel...

Re: One more in.

Especially with Keane coming in. Otherwise, I'm sure there is a decent chance a loan player would pick up an injury eventually. I really don't understand why MOM is still here. He adds absolutely nothing, and we've brought in someone better. Because we might not be able to under the terms of the lo...

Re: One more in.

Not sure we can terminate O'Mahoney's loan in which case, I'd be straight on the phone to Brighton to let them know he won't get another game so they may want to recall him and loan him out to someone else.

Re: a RB and a LB signings imminent

If I was running the club, having a single leak that provides fairly reliable information wouldn't be an issue because it generates traction for the club on social media. That brogue is broadly antagonistic towards the owners wouldn't be an issue either because it adds a degree of authenticity. I'm ...

Re: a RB and a LB signings imminent

He's new to the job (previously worked for the Brighton Argus????) so obviously won't have the contacts but in those circumstances, you keep your head down and work whatever sources are made available to you. You're always going to have leads that come to nothing, it's part and parcel of the job but...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Leyton Orient (a)

Come on now. Two of his 3 goals for us were against Exeter under 18s in the pizza trophy. With Ballard, there at least looked to be a half decent footballer in there even if he couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo whilst with us and, to be fair to him, we were oxf*rd shit the early part of that s...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Leyton Orient (a)

No, no, he wasn't. Yes, yes he was. Elaborating a bit more, he was averaging about 1 goal in 3 and was improving the more he played. Come on now. Not one I'm disappointed at missing out on. Too many questions marks. To be honest, none of the centre backs we've been linked to have stood out particularly.

Re: Ricardo Santos

I used Harte as an example as even though he was from lower league, because we were still big time our transfers were still for famous players who were good. I maybe an outlier but I've literally never heard of any Reading transfer targets these days. I don't pay anywhere near enough attention to k...
