Not just those comments but he also refused to talk to Reading to see what the plans were. A bit rude, arrogant and close-minded.

His position is justified

His words are, perhaps, poorly chosen.

Ah well, we'll find someone else to buy.

But if he'd already made his mind up to go to Celtic then what would have been the point.

2 world wars, 1 world cup LOL @ all the fuss being made!!!

What this guy says isn't unreasonable is it!

For a start he seems to have an affinity for Celtic, which is fair enough.

And then all he says is he thinks Reading will be fighting a relegation battle. Why is that so outrageous? Since when has a good first season definitely guaranteed survival and progression for years? Some go down the next season, some continue It's hard to say. It's definitely not unreasonable to say or believe that Reading will go back down in the next couple of years, whereas Celtic will offer top class football.

If any of us had an enormous career decision like this we'd look at teh likelihood of survival/ success without RTGs. It's one thing being a fan and saying "yeah i'm sure my team will stay up and do well for years" and quite another beign a player who has to make an enormous career/life decision who looks at the situation totally objectively and opts for the safer option!

damn u
with your sensible, even-handed and fair-minded responses
to hell and damnation with you

LOL. I'd have been awaiting my ban from HNA any moment now... but luckily I post enough nonsense to be allowed to stay I hope.

Maybe so, but he didn't allow the Reading management the opportunity to try and change his mind.

All things on which you are an expert Spacey.

Like I've said once before, it's good the see that 'poor l'il Reading syndrome' is still alive and well.

Why? He owes us nothing. As has been said elsewhere, he has an affinity with Celtic and was always going to sign for them - what point would there be in either him travelling down to Reading or Hammond/Coppell travelling to Edinburgh when you know you're not interested.

ReadingFlan My point was no player has come down from Scotland and made a big impact in the Premiership. Dalglish, Souness, Hansen we all know about as they have been around for years before the premier league began. The game is totally different now. No back pass rule for starters.
Colin Hendry ! come on ! I am talking about an impact. You can't name one !

That's not true, is it? We didn't buy him from a Scottish club.

From the Daily Record:

SCOTT BROWN was last night branded a nobody after he revealed he didn't fancy a relegation battle with Reading.

Royals midfielder Glen Little hit back at the new Celtic star's remarks and insisted he had never heard of the £4.4million Scotland internationalist.

Reading were keen to take the Hibs star to the Premiership but the player feared he would be a forgotten man if he moved to the Madejski because Steve Coppell's team may not be in England's top-flight long term.

But Little said: "To be fair, I have never heard of Scott Brown. I don't watch a great deal of Scottish football. He has got a good point though because he certainly won't be fighting a relegation battle in Scotland.

"People can say what they want about Reading. They did before last season and look what we achieved. But we love proving people wrong."

To a certain degree I'm sitting on the fence on this one. Whilst I can understand Brown's logic of being offered Champions League football, to say that Celtic can offer the chance of playing against AC Milan, Man Utd etc is a little short sighted because you're more likely to be playing against the lesser teams of Europe (Spartak Moscow on a Tuesday night anyone?) than Man Utd. I personally think he's shirked a challenge by going to Celtic, but then again it's so easy to be blinded by club stature and prestige rather than the actual standard a club play at week in week out. With regards his words, there's a possibility that Reading will be in a relegation battle next season, but he could have chosen his words more carefully. The guy knows very little about us, and his words show a huge amount of ignorance. It's not his place to judge a club he knows very little about. I'm slightly annoyed at his words, I think they were out of turn. But realistically, as has been said, Celtic or Reading? Bit of a no-brainer really.

It won't be 24,000 for much longer. And anyway, why are attendances important here?

Sounds like we've just been saved from spending £4 million quid on a Scotch bottler...
