Yeh, because we would be well up for trying something COMPLETELY new in the 2 most important games of the season...

Obvioulsy Mooney could feature, and given that we're without Hunt and Lita it would only take a slight knock to a forward to bring him into the equation.

Whether James Henry could feature is an interesting one, IIRC when his loan was extended at Millwall it was only until May 1st (i'm prepared to be corrected !)

I believe Henry is on loan to Milwall up to and including the play off semi finals but not the final.
What about Robson - Kanu playing down the left or at least coming off the bench?

What about any players almost out of contraract at their current clubs who could negotiate a mutual free transfer, which would benefit the club due to salary savings thereby making them eligible to be signed up by another club before the transfer window opens.

Nice idea, think they actually have to have been out of contract and free to move before the close of the transfer window to actually be allowed though :)

As Mooney was awarded a four out of ten rating, the lowest of any Norwich player in yesterday's debacle at Charlton, I wouldn't hold your breath.

Yes but in recent weeks he has been scoring goals, unlike most Reading players.

But the problem we have had has been chance creation....the wingers, full backs, midfield, overall passing and shape is just not creating chances..
how many did we create yesterday..two in the first half and perhaps three in the second and two of them Marek created for himself.

I'm not so sure, Didn't Charlton terminate Steve Brown's contract so he could join us on a free?

He could feature if asked, but Coppell's about as adventurous as a cheese sandwich.

To be fair, it might mean we actually have someone trying to get on the end of crosses right across the face of goal...

That was before the summer and winter transfer windows were applied to our division though wasnt it?

Brown joined us in late December, so a rather different scenario to the current one !

Can't see why anyone would need to have a contract cancelled to move on a free, the selling club just doesn't ask for a fee.

I can't remember what the rules were back then but even now a player can move in December on an emergency loan and then sign a full deal in January. I'm sure the Cube would have chapter and verse on the rules and the specific deal !

Because we can't buy someone be if for £20,000,000 or £0 outside of the transfer window.

As for the 'move as a free agent', isn't there also a free agent window which shuts in March or somewhere around there?

I cant remember if they did or didnt do it that way, but if they did I think it was probably just a case of them releasing him on a free for us

I am 99% certain that a club can only sign a free agent if they were a free agent when the window closed, otherwise there would be no point on having the window as clubs could get round it by releasing players and getting a payment in the summer (internationally speaking as well as in England where you are right we just use the "emergency" loan to get round it)
