There certainly is a lot of McLeod coverage.

This stories getting wearing now, I mean fair play to the guy but there are many more loyal fans who have turned down moving away from the area for a variety of reasons because they wanna be near the club to see EVERY game.. thats dedication.

During the season just ended, in which Reading FC finished a respectable fourth in the second-tier Championship League, McLeod attended about a dozen Royals games.

The year before, he saw 17 matches — 11 at home, four on the road, and another two during the playoffs.

He managed to see two play-off games the year we got relegated? :?

Seen here on the left with BB0118 after a miserable Royals defeat against Burnley.

probably people who don't need to move away to get a job.

I would also suggest anyone for whom going to games is one of their bigger hobbies in life, moving away and being unable to go would be a bit of a blow. I know in the past I use to live for Saturday, and I'd have hated to have stopped for something as mundane as work.

I think if I did move away, I'd want to move so far away that I wasn't tempted to carry on going, except for perhaps the odd game.

Of course, if you have the choice of similar situations the football may tip the balance. But you don't turn down family, or great lifestyle/work opportunities because you won't live near your football club!

It' not just about work, though. Some of us just wanted to taste what the world had to offer.

I think it is called getting a life! Why anyone who has had a taste of life away from Reading would actually want to live there AGAIN is beyond me. Give me the open fields and countryside any day!

And what is dedication? Not missing a game for 30 years sounds more like a severe case of OCD. Everyone who goes to game shows dedication of one sort or another.

Circumstances?

Did you turn down an opportunity you really wanted just because you wouldn't get to as many Reading games/it'd cost more to go?

Or did you decide to stick with a similar but slightly less good opportunity where you were already comfortable?

I moved to the U.S. in 2003 and I've always made sure that I had a look at the fixture list before I've come back to see my folks, etc. Amongst others, I managed the record setting QPR game on my birthay (I've seen all of Murty's goals) and then the first Prem game.
Oh shit, that makes me sound so plastic!

How many people showed up yesterday compared to the first Prem game we had? How many Man U supporters from Guildford have ever been to Old Trafford? At least this guy shows some dedication to travel vast distances to support his club.

My only comment is, why Canada? 8)

The Vancouver Sun The town of 140,000 is perhaps best known in Canada as the punch line in a recurring joke on the CBC Radio program As it Happens, whose hosts routinely (and inexplicably) make reference to Reading.

Erm, why? Those crazy Canadians :|

The Vancouver Sun "He could well be the world's most dedicated footsie fan," the tabloid Mirror reported in its story

Footsie indeed

I thought Reading's population was higher than that. Exeter and Cambridge are about 100k and they feel much smaller.

What a stupid thing to say when you're someone who spends half his life on an internet messageboard discussing Reading Football Club.
As the saying goes football is the nation's past time, and for me watching my team play is undoubtedly one of my favourite things to do, and I would not willingly give it up.

It's one of my favourite pass times and it didn't stop me moving about 100 miles away. Well done for missing the point.

Hmm,

160 mile round trip for home games and get live in Bristol

or

10 Mile round trip and have to live in Reading

Tough choice.
