Lump it goatboy.

If relegation has been confirmed, why also hope we get relegated?

Clever goat.

As stated before, it was his job and it was impossible for him to lose it clearly.

i see JM said he needed to take time to make such an important decision, so my translation is:

Give it a month or so just to check that the cheapest and most convenient option isn't a total muppet.

I for one really hope that such a nice bloke does a thoroughly good job for Reading, but unfortunately i think i can count on one hand the thoroughly nice blokes that have succeeded in football league management.

I think the Mad Man has either forgotten that we're not in the Premiership (4 points from the last 2 games but boy do they stretch the games out alot) or he's only following the FA cup this season due to his limited time spent promoting his name.

Madejski's statement on the appoitment couldn't have been much more tosh if he possibly tried.
What a god awful appointment @ what has become a laughing stock football club.
I'm sure the pathetic RTG's will be happy

wow a record of five league games and no wins = you've impressed, Reading job is yours...well done all!

Why was Rogers sacked? to appoint McDermott???? It just doesn't make sense

If you take such a drastic decision to sack someone a few months into a long contract after paying huge compensation, then appoint internally after the sacking!!!-why not just appoint McD after Coppell went if he is so well-qualified?

The whole thing smacks of incompetence on every level and this decisions is YET ANOTHER MISTAKE.

best case scenario: we just about scrape to survival, whoopey-do!

In other words, I hope we're going down because going down is now confirmed.

No losses at home... yet. It was always coming.

Just heard this announced on BBCRB to be followed by an interview with Bill Oddie. Coincidence?

I don't think Reading fans could be anymore depressed right now. The team are awful, now they appoint a Scout as Manager. It is laughable.
Come on Barnsley.

SJM has taken the cheap option and has shown liitle faith in Brian McDermott ability offering him a 12 month rolling contract - Most managers would have told SJM to stick it,

Oh dear - League 1 is nailed on now.

Madejski you are a w***** of the highest order. How you have the nerve to do interviews on BBCRB saying you want this club in the PL is beyond me.

Hang your head in shame. What a disaster. 2 relegations in 3 seasons. Excellent leadership Sir John you t0sser.

F**king horrific turn of events since Coppell's departure.

My depression over this has given way to outright anger. I have NEVER been so angry with RFC in 28 years of support.

Madejski - you are a f**king prick.

However my anger is immediately giving way to my love for the club, even if I hate the gamble we're taking, and have totally lost faith in the chairman.

The club will always be the club, representing the town I was born in and have lived in all my life. It is not BM's fault he got the job, it is not the players fault he got the job (infact they couldn't do that much worse in the league to prevent it!) and it certainly isn't the town's fault. So I will rise to support the club, the players and, oddly enough, the manager even though I can no longer stand the chairman and am quickly coming to the conclusion that I want him out as soon as possible.

Just as I detested Rodgers' signing but stuck up for him where I could, I will get behind the team I love and stick up for it, albeit attending far fewer games.

The clueless one is dead, long live a clueless newbie who may or may not turn out lucky!

It was always on the cards that BM go the job. No real surprise there at all. JM was never going to go for a more expensive option or try and kick start this season a third time.
