which is obviously an oxy-moron, before we hear the phrase, Adkins and Reading in the same sentence? Best of luck Nigel I suspect you are going to need it!

We're not staying up, so Naughty Nigel gets 8 games to honeymoon and familiarise himself with his new squad, and plan for the summer.

Anton mentioned we weren't very well prepared last summer, and the scouting was poor. Well we've since brought in Fulham's Chief Scout, so that problem has been addressed. There's a lot of work to do this summer!

Ideal Tired of this season. Let's just get it over with and be relegated and look forward to next season.
Then after next season's promotion we can start counting the days until Adkins is scapegoated/sacked after no money has been put in towards transfers, again.

Just accept it as it is and stop droning on and on and on? Go see the Samaritans. Change the record, this one is worn to death.

The honeymoon ends after the pre-nuptials at Arsenal. I doubt the remainder of the games will be just a kick around to prepare for next season.

Ideal Just remember what I said, once Adkins is sacked when we're struggling in the prem next time around, and he hasn't had any money for transfers... yahay russian ownership!
I'll be on hand to shout "I TOLD YOU SO" in caps and with the huge font size.

A rare visit to the team board for this non Reading fan. I dont think this scenario will unfold because i doubt you are making it back to the prem. I actually agree with you for a change though Ideal. I think it was ridiculously harsh to sack Mcdermott. Hope i am wrong and you come straight back up if/when you are relegated.

Ideal I'm merrier than Christmas itself, what does being underwhelmed by the new manager appointment and our tragic russian owner have anything to do with being happy or not?
You seem completely confused with the issues at hand.

OK...your bias of not sacking Brian aside (for a minute, if you please...indulge me...) Who else that was available would be an 'ideal' manager? Who?

Nothing ruins a honeymoon quite like a period.

You usually have to get some arsehole involved at that point.

If we don't beat Arsenal I will be booing him at the Southampton game and demanding his immediate resignation.

His decision to play / drop [delete as appropriate] McAnuff and Leigertwood will be a disgrace and show our total lack of ambition (somehow).

When I read the title and opened the thread, I thought I was in Anything Else, and some unfortunate groom had planned the wedding date badly.

THE WHOLE POINT IS THE SACKING WAS POINTLESS UNLESS AN UPMARKET TOP GRADE PROVEN MANAGER WAS LINED UP .

TOTALLY UNARGUABLE

AND NOW ADKINS IS ONLY GOING TO WIN US ROUND WITH INSTANT PROMOTION (OR BETTER WHICH IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN)

AND YES I AM SHOUTING

If we could snatch a point at Arsenal and beat Southampton, it would keep the season alive.

I just hope there is a realization that it will take time, perhaps 2-3 seasons, to build a new team after relegation before we may be in a position to push for promotion again.

If we have mongtastic protests because we aren't winning the league next year by Christmas it will be a depressing, non-surprise.....

Seems a bit odd seeing as McD was supposedly a decent scout - hmmm a bit cutting - butt covering/pass the buck - hmmm
