facaldaqui we know the left back situation is Adkins's responsibility since he said outright that he believes a full back should be able to play in both positions. I was a left back and would rather play left half and left wing than right back. OK, a pro should be more versatile, but rare is the person who is equally instinctive and skilful with both feet. We should have a reserve left back.

Agreed. One of many curious observations from Adkins since day 1 for him at Reading and something I've always had an issue with.

16 attempts on goal goal compared to their 18. pretty easy to see where our problems are. WTF did we make such a big effort to keep Pearce? he has never been that good

howser Do you not think floyd that Adkins has had the rug pulled from under his feet, he has a good record of playing attractive football, but with the right players, and it would seem that whatever is going on behind the scenes has prevented him from getting the right personnel into the club that would be comfortable playing that way, and as such been left with the hoofing brigade he had inheretid from McDermott.

Well, in that case.....he should have some courage and tell TSI where to stick the job. He's a coward, happy to take the money and spout platitudes.

A dig at McD on a day like today is unbelievable.....we overachieved under his astute management.

Agreed. Team spirit is everything; it can make up for limited ability. I now miss the old team-spirit brigade like McAnuff, Leigertwood, Karacan, Tabb, Harte, Hunt, and co that got us promotion. You could see that the people we brought in for the prem lacked that side to their characters...people like McCleary, Guthrie, Kelly, and Gunter do not exactly ooze passion for the shirt. And good luck to Baird but this is just a pay deal to him. Plus who knows what effect the likes of Drenthe and Williams are having on the squad with their fat contracts and lack of identification with the shirt? Look at Orient and Russell Slade for an example of what cameraderie can do ... reminds me of Brian's old "good people" approach.

100% correct but how much of the failing to secure a second left back was Adkins fault for not finding one, or the clubs fault for its August transfer window activities, or lack of them due to available finance issues.

You can pick up a reserve left back for nothing, like Coppell did with Dan Harding.

I usually couldn't care about listening to Adkins, but I'd be interested if someone could quote/summarise what he said to explain today's result which must have been so humiliating for him given his big talk in pre-season.

Watched about 20 mins of todays game, but listened to the whole game and I will try and resist a knee jerk reaction to what turned out to be a pretty shameful performance.Basically we tried to play the Adkins way and were totally out muscled by a Wednesday side who played very direct football.

As an attacking side as Kevin Dillon said-stop Guthrie getting on the ball and the Atkins way just collapses. We need to have a plan B as the game progresses and starts to go badly for us.That means getting the ball out wide and fast.Of our four wingers only McCleery really looks as if he can apply this tactic and like so many other players in the team he looks totally confused.

Defensively I have thought our centre backs have looked weak all season and today they( and Kelly) were found out.

Only Pog earned his money today.

Incidentally Dim Teller(when going through the available CB cover) did not seem to know that as a centre back alternative Baird can play there.

It also seems that bringing in Roberts, Williams and Drenthe to reboost the team looks a million miles away and that Bridge can only play every other game.

Not quite for nothing there is normally a signing on fee and that monthly thing called wages, maybe that is an insight to what ever the "behind scenes" issues are with Zingarevich.

I thought the players said after the 0-6 defeat at Posh, that was a one off & would not happen again.
Perhaps, we need to become the Biscuitmen again as we keep crumbling!

Quite frankly it's felt completely sh1t ever since we became a (very) poor man's Chelsea.
