Winchester Royal I remember the last time we played them in the cup, I think it was a 1-1 draw at the Bescot followed by a 0-0 draw at the Madejski - we lost the shoot-out. Was that 2003?

I think we missed every penalty, no?

Seem to remember Vinny Samways scoring a free kick against us for them. Maybe that was a league game, or another season, or I dreamt it.

We scored 1 penalty, and the Samways goal was in a league game the following season.

strange it was grant brebner that got the 2nd goal. remember trying drag caskey over the hoarding though and that our away form was atrocious at the time. Walsall were relative world beaters as well - that's how bad we were back in the day!

When asked - "what was the most boring football you've ever seen in your life?" I never hesitate. Walsall home - twice in January 2003.

There must be people out there that also went to Walsall. That would be enough to put most people off football for life.

I remember a game at Walsall when we were both high-flying and the ref failed to give a legitimate Keith Jones goal which would have made a difference.
I even wrote a letter of complaint about the referee and tbf got a phone call from the Compliance Officer which lasted about half an hour.
I had suggested that the ref was a civil servant, a teacher or a copper as they always seemed to be one of those and I also suggested that the (bald) ref should retire.
The officer said that the ref was actually young and well thought of and indeed was a copper.
His name was Howard Webb.
Whatever happened to him?
Surely he went back to being a copper.
BTW I suppose I had better put

Well, as far as they're concerned, us and Uddazfild are non- entities and they've already booked their passage into the next round.

Typified by 'Terrible draw.............. probably end up playing 'The Biscuit men', the new plastic cockerknees'. Blimey, are they up 'emselves or what?

I went to one of those. It's seared in the memory for all the wrong reasons. In fact, most fixtures we've had with Walsall are...

Listen I'm under no illusions that we aren't exactly big nor glamorous, but oxf*rd Walsall?

If we get through I hope we stuff the shitty Brummyesque bastards.

I've never seen two pages of such arrogant self entitled woffle as is apparent on the Walsall forum.

90% of the country wouldn't even be able to point to where Walsall is on the map, it sounds like a DIY item you'd buy in B&Q.

Not suprised, its a shite draw for them when you see it from their perspective.

Personally, Bournemouth at home would have been a good 'un.

Yeah, I went to all three matches and it was incredibly boring. In fact the biggest excitement was after the replay when the away supporters coach tore down the road outside the South Stand with the horn on when it was still full of people. It had to stop eventually and everyone gave it a good kicking.

If we win the replay it's hard to be disappointed with the draw really, a team in a lower league at home gives us a great chance to progress. Those who are worried about our recent record against Walsall can seek solace in the fact that we have beaten Pompey away and Blackburn this season, feats that have sometimes seemed unimaginable.

I remember the 1st game well. It was about 12c in Reading, arrived at Walsall it was about -4c. I was wearing a t-shirt and a light hoodie. I think I nearly died.

Why do they think just because they've beaten Forest (2nd string team put out), Brighton (2nd string team put out) and Brentford (2nd string team put out) they would walk us? Providing we beat Huddersfield.

I was wondering how we could possibly eclipse the glamour and excitement of playing the three times Division 1, cup winners of 1922, the mighty Galacticos of the Championship, the Yorkshire Terriers, but by drawing one of the founders of the second division and league cup semi finalists of 1983-84, we may have ruddy well done it!

I am sure I am not alone in not being able to concentrate ahead of the replay with the Poodles due to the sheer magnitude of the glittering prize at stake if we manage to pull it off in the replay. Only problem is would the 4th round game get moved for tv?

Terrible draw from a spectacle point of view but, if we manage to beat Uddersfield which will be a challenge in itself, Walsall gives us another great opportunity to go late into the competition again.
