I doubt we are concentrating on just one target, and bottom line is Norwich either want to sell him or they don't. If they want to sell him then the risk is with them if they try and push the price too high.
I think getting another striker in would be nice but not essential. We're at the stage of adding luxury to what is a very decent squad.

He’s the only out and out striker Jaap has openly confirmed as a real target so I can see it happening but will cost us serious money which I think the club will pay without hesitation come 10.45pm on Thursday evening.

While he may or may not be our main target it's beyond belief that anyone would take Stam's comment to mean we aren't looking at a range of players. In reality Stam's comment doesn't even mean Oliviera is the one we want. Just as likely that we'll unveil a player that hasn't been publically mentioned at all....

I'd be stunned if they sold him though, the only other proper striker they have is Jerome

Would be very surprised if he comes here, unless he openly asks for a move

Norwich fans now coming to terms with Delia and the club looking to operate within their means and need to offload and get money in. The club may decide to ride it out with Jerome and pick up a decent option in January. But they'll be wanting top dollar from us.

The only two questions remain; do we have the balls to pay top dollar, or do we have other targets hidden from sight?

well looks like we have 3 main options, and have for a while - Hugill, Aluko and Oliveira. All 3 of those have made noises about wanting to move on (and to us) from the sound of it. I suspect we are offering a nice tasty wage packet and a long contract, plus not having to live in horrible Preston or Norwich.

Maybe each of those clubs are happy enough to sell on a player who isn't happy, and will mean that actually we won't necessarily need to pay over the odds as we have other options

Norwich is hardly horrible. Out of the way and a pain to get in and out of, but not horrible.

Second that, think Norwich is a really nice place. Wouldn't say no to living there, would much rather live in Norwich than Reading any day.....but the roads to get to that side of the county are rubbish/out the way/not direct/fight with M25 beforehand etc as I often find out as the missus family are all web-footed east anglians.

But a 20-something year-old footballer may not appreciate the more relaxed way of life that i'd envy from the likes of Norwich so also hoping the lure of bright lights in Reading and the smell of money will get him here. Looks leaps and bounds better than anything we've currently got to go up top, or other options available.

On a side note, I see that Rhodes is being talked about for other clubs. What are peoples thoughts if Rhodes or Lord Nelson (as the canaries fans call him) was our option, who would you choose?

Yeah alright, Norwich isn't horrible. Bit inbred but not horrible

Preston is though

Still think location does matter. Close to Heathrow, London etc.

Usual idiots on Twitter claiming this is a done deal.

Fee ranging from £9.2m plus add ons to £9m plus Jordan Obita.

Olivieri for me too but seeing as it appears Reading may well be about to sign Aluko I can't see this happening - nor for any other striker. I mean could you imagine Reading agreeing a £7.5m deal for Aluko then a day or two later paying £9.2m for Olivieri?

Oliviera likely to be tomorrow. Transfer has taken longer due to Farke but understand Norwich board taken it out of his hands #readingfc

if we sign Oliveira then I think it's a recognition that Kermogant is basically done and really won't be back.

Also, if he comes in do we put Sam Smith out on loan given we also have Mendes as well?

If we do sign him, would this be classed as the greatest signing reading has ever made?

think Mendes will be gone if this does happen. Possibly Beerens as well, though think he may be a bit more settled, and with his kid in the academy etc
