Pepe the Horseman Sounds like Mbengue is off to QPR :(

Wonder how this affects things -

Queens Park Rangers head coach Marti Cifuentes has left the Championship club.

It is understood former Rennes and Strasbourg head coach Julien Stephan will become their new boss.

If he does join QPR I imagine the reason would be £££ rather than who the manager is.
Having said that, as the new manager is French I shouldn't imagine he would see it as a negative.
Would be gutted to see him leave, especially to the fakes.

We know he’s off, but on page 16 he apparently signed for Watford for 3 years so currently it’s all

Pre season starts today, can we read into who turns up? If you were rejecting a contract offer, would you join up this week?

I would suggest that the Reading FC Social Media Admin may know what they are doing.

First day of pre-season and they post a picture of Meite meeting a fan at training from a few years back. Will get some engagement if nothing else.

Thinking about this week's signings of Clarke, Ryan and Stickland, I think they all need to have a decent role in the squad this season if we want to operate smarter.

Before his ACL, Ryan was very highly rated and surely is in with a shout at our full back positions. Maybe we should sign a first choice LB, but apart from that we have a few options and we just need someone like Abrefa or Ryan to grab the position for themselves. Stickland looked handy last season and will get more chances without Bindon and Mbengue around. Clarke has been around for a few years now and just needs better luck with injuries.

If 2 can become solid squad/cup options and 1 steps up to become a full first teamer with potential to play higher or generate transfer revenue, that's a good outcome. It should be the aim.

RC has stated on a number of occasions that one of his hobby horses is around transparency and making relevant financial information available to Leaders in real time...

If we assume that this is a real cultural change from the previous regime, it could be having an effect on squad building...

Being responsible for a defined budget and having to juggle it to build a squad of first team etc is harder that it sounds...

I was told yesterday that they are expecting everyone to sign back up apart from mBengue who is already gone and Wareham who is 90% gone. Maybe one other.

Glad to hear Craig is likely to re sign unsung hero of the last 2 seasons in my eyes.

Any idea where Warehsn is heading then? Am surprised he would look elsewhere given our lack of forward options currently

So by that reckoning if the potential "one other" to not re-sign is Craig or WiFi we have only managed to re-sign 2 out of 5 first team players?
We have done very well with Bindons replacement but appears we now need to replace goals from Wareham and Smith. Quite a lot of work to do in defence and attack before August
Michael Craig (1st)
Jeriel Dorsett
Kelvin Ehibatiomhan (1st)
Abraham Kanu
Amadou Mbengue (1st)
Joel Pereira (1st)
Tivonge Rushesha
Michael Stickland
Basil Tuma
Jayden Wareham (1st)
Andy Yiadom

To be honest, I'm half surprised we will have retained that many. I know it's a new era etc but if you have lived and worked in the sort of environment the club has been for the past couple of years, then you would have to seriously think about if it is somewhere you want to stay.

It does feel like we need a first choice LB and then an understudy to sub on regularly, with the rest going on loan.

Dorsett, Garcia, Ryan, Clarke isn't really a group to give you a first choice LB, and its way too many for cover.

Let's chill. We almost certainly will have a squad good enough to stay in this division, so if building a squad good enough to win promotion and compete in the Championship takes 18 months or so, what's the problem?

We want talented players, capable of improving with the right attitude and at affordable wages. Not easy to get 10 of them in a month.

Hang on, Brogue told us Wareham signed weeks ago?

He looked a real bright spark and without him we have literally zero strikers.

One would think there's got to be an announcement today (as it's supposedly the first day of preseason training) to confirm who has re-signed, they can't all still be with the FL for approval.
