Well, we have brought in 7 players with a few more rumoured to be on the go as well as tying up a load of new contracts. That's pretty ballsy activity for less than 4 weeks.

WestYorksRoyal On balance, I agree this is a long term project and it would be better to statt the season with the squad as it is and giving academy players a chance than sign the wrong option on a 2 year deal or longer.

But I don't think disagreeing with this makes you a bed wetter or idiot. It's natural to want your team to start the season well, and our attack is weak. We're top 6 standard in GK, defence and midfield and relegation battle standard on the wings and up front. We're two or three signings away from a good season. For what it's worth, I think we'll see some more arrivals before Lincoln, but it'll still be a slow start as they won't have had pre season to gel.

I think what makes one an idiot is having unrealistic expectations and having learnt precisely nothing from the last ten years, whilst also ignoring everything the club, Couhig et al have been saying.

Also, still being on twitter and tweeting.

Couhig et al have been extremely ballsy about what our transfer business will look like.

Have they really? Because they've been quite clear the club needs to fund itself and we'll mostly be working with frees and loans rather thm splashing fees.

It seems pretty simple to me:

The only way that Couhig makes money from RFC is if we get promoted. So his interests and the fans align pretty closely right now.

Obviously, one of the core rights/duty of a football fan is to complain about the owner and their choices, that's all fair game. But I don't actually believe that I know better than Couhig how to get promoted, and I don't think anyone else posting here does either.

I’ll accept Some of the language Couhig and co maybe hasn’t been the most helpful

‘Spectacular’ transfer window I think was one. But then it’s seems a bit of a cultural thing, Americans love their hyperbole. We’re a bunch of miserable cynical gits

Imagine just having got rid of an owner that said oxf*rd all in 8 years to moaning about an owner that talks too much, you couldn`t make it up.

It’s just social media has done to us isn’t it? Constant refreshing and zero patience, waiting for that next dopamine hit

I think it predates social media. I think it started with the advent of 24hr sports newscasting and the need to have a constant drip feed of news. We've been conditioned to believe that no news is bad news.

One of my favourite windows was 2015-16 where we seemed to be signing players out of nowhere with absolutely zero speculation on most of them. Yeah, most of them were flops but that's not really the point. "We've just signed someone from Benfica!!!!!" "Yeah but who the oxf*rd is Ola John?"

Ola John…now there’s a memory

Wasn’t he basically rubbish but suddenly unplayable for about 2 games before going rubbish again? Long time ago now

We brought in 17 players that window (although Hector was a loan back after selling him to Chelsea). We then signed another 4 in January.

Then we thrased Ipswich 5-0, went on a great run for a few games and we all thought it was the start of something special. Not to be.

Fans all have opinions. Some are reasoned, well thought out and sound. Others are the machinations of delusional thinking prejudiced by their innate sense of self righteousness. That only their views count as truth, and others will agree or it is some sort of hate crime perpetrated against them. Twitter is where they congregate to shout at walls in order to alleviate the nagging doubt that may actually be slightly wrong.

Couldn`t have put it better myself, I`m sick of trying to reason with them, 2 games in and we`re already down.

5-1, not that it matters.

We were briefly top two* a few weeks later, but it all went to pieces at 2-0 up vs Fulham. Manager went before Christmas and B McD took a poisoned chalice.

Stephen Quinn getting injured seemed to kill our momentum, he was outstanding during that run.
