tbf- if theres a blatant penalty missed by the ref- im happy for BMcD to point that out.
and it was as blatant a pen as you are likely to see

Man Friday Just seen Church's miss. Oh dear, dear. Would have been easier to have put it on target.

Surely it wasn't deliberate was it?

A late cross by Kebe with a misjudged diving header. Perhaps Church was surprised at the skillmeister getting the cross in.

Shocked people think it was so bad given he had to throw himself at full stretch to connect with the ball. First one was a poor connection caused by panicked poor decision making... but I'm not convinced he had a great chance of scoring with it either way given the angle, the fact he was moving away from goal and there was a defender covering too.

was still a free header on the 6 yard line, with no one within 10 feet of him.
yes he had to stretch, but could still have directed it goalwards.

Of course he could.. but it's hardly miss of the century and certainly a difficult chance IMO.

As I said on another thread I think Mills' header from a corner was a poorer effort.

Man Friday Not very impressed with McD's post-match comments about the ref. He has stated that he doesn't talk about refs so why start doing it just because one of them missed a decision for you. Don't start becoming a Hodgson with misguided remarks because you're disappointed with the result. You're better than that!

TBF we have had some really strong pens turned down recently, Watford, Leeds.

Swansea was clear-cut

Jesus H. If that had been Long missing such a sitter, you'd probably have started a thread to have him put down.

It was a very, VERY bad miss. He had almost all the goal to aim at.

"Panicked decision making"? But you'd play him instead of Long

But why was he so far off the ball? Presumably he was slow to react and thus couldn't reach the ball for a clean header.

Long (+ Church and Hunt) have missed far easier chances this season. Yes I'd be more pissed off if it was Shane Long missing them, but then he's our first choice striker and has played virtually every game this season and most importantly, I don't like him a great deal.

Please don't tell me what I'd think, you have no idea. I most certainly would not be calling for Long's head based on those two misses. Just as I haven't when the ball fell to him inside three yards against Swansea and it just bounced off him.

Again, stop telling me what I think. I would not play Church ahead of Long currently. I would seriously consider playing him alongside Long at the moment, but that is it.
