- why not adopt a formation that would assist those out of position?key players unavailable in key positions

:|

Key players were unavailable for the formation we did adopt.

maybe less of the key ones in less key positions

agree totally that obita instead of taylor seems odd. obv
also think the why are these injuries happening could well be relevant

just wanted to argue

Let's fight about something more interesting then.

Don't we have an Under 21 team that's been doing quite well? Give some of them a few games between now and end of season - get them ready for next year. If I were manager for the day, I'd make Drenthe, Gorkss and a few of the others, clean the younger players' boots - just so they can be a little bit humbled. I cannot express in a post on here, quite how fed up and angry I am at what I saw yesterday. Including, I might add, an almost statue like Adkins, when he wasn't just sat on the bench that is. I can't say I ever remember him getting wound up, shouting, gesticul8ing etc - but then I haven't been to many games recently, so I may be doing him a dis-service, but he certainly didn't seem that bothered yesterday. Are they actually being paid at the moment or what? :|

What was happening after the game when it was kicking off in the park outside the ground?

Some epic toys-out-of-the-pram hysteria on this thread.

At least it bodes well for the future of the club that so many children have taken an interest in RFC.

You're happy to mock other comments/suggestions - what are yours?

I said use SOME of the U21s/younger players in my posts - and we have nothing to lose by doing so, especially if we were to get rid of the spine of the team at the end of the season and not have much in the way of anyone of note to come in. But I'll wait to hear your suggestions.

Mr.Swainey What was happening after the game when it was kicking off in the park outside the ground?

It sounded like it was a load of Reading fans getting wound up with each other. There was also a group of Bournemouth "hoolies" hiding round a corner ready for a rumble, about 50m from the police station!

I know right. Never realised we had quite so many drama queens.

Apparently lying in 6th with 5 games to go means the heart and soul has been ripped out of the club.

It was ripped out ages ago - hence why people don't feel as connected to the club as they used to. Whether that's the ever rising wages, the takeover, the club not investing like we were lead to believe, I don't know - for me, it's a combination of all of it. But anyone who is happy to watch the sort of display we were treated to last night, and it's not like it was a one-off, are the ones with the problem imo.

Is anyone saying they were happy to watch the display last night?

We lost, we didn't play well, we haven't played well on a number of occasions his season - yet only 5 teams in the division have done any better. Get a grip.

No-one is happy with the display, but I do feel Williams and Guthrie dropping out at short notice was a big factor in the preparations and the result. You can blame it on under-investment that we weren't prepared but we were also missing Karacan, Akpan and had an unfit Leigertwood on the bench. I'm not a master tactician and I'm also not an Adkins apologist (I'm not fond of the guy and he has made some mistakes in other games) but I'm not sure how Adkins is meant to prepare with four central players being injured, and promising academy players having played the night before? I do think he should have played Jake Taylor, but then I've not seen too much from him when he has played.

I'm not saying it wasn't a poor performance, but some of the quotes flying around are a bit OTT imho tbf tbh. We're 6th with 5 games to go and it's in our hands. If we were languishing in the bottom half I'd understand the backlash a little more.

We are only in this position because so many other teams have been ineffectual - we've lost to teams like Barnsley and Sheff Wed - we had a dreadful cup experience, we've been pretty poor all season, but so have other teams. Whatever is causing our problems needs to be sorted, I have no doubt that the takeover and now lack of a new buyer has contributed to this, but no one, particularly last night, had any fight in them whatsoever. But don't try and convince yourself that we are a good team Avon, because we're really not, we've just got lucky a few times against other results and that's why we're still 6th, but other teams are right on our tail now, and there's still 5 games to go.

I think it is more about the frustration of being so near yet looking like
we are going to throw it away.A win on Monday and that will go some way
to calming the nerves.
