To be fair, nobody will be able to prove anything until either he/the club comes out and says we've had to reduce the debt to the Chairman by £Xm or the books are filed in 12 months time.

As for Hendrie...well I'm not that impressed, although he was a decent player in his day so maybe he might just get back to some resemblence of that form. I doubt it though, and I'm very disappointed that we seem to be happy to tear apart an average side and replace it with what is shaping up as a poor one.

I wonder how much of this Rodgers saw coming...

I can confirm, having spoken to Johnny this morning, that this (Lee Hendrie) is indeed the signing he was talking about.

But having seen the accounts for previous years showing he has not taken anything out has never worried those who believe he does, they refuse to believe it then so why would it be different now.

We've always previously had money from Madejski to support transfer. That's the big difference because he's obviously suffering from the economic turn down and some poor performing investments.

I'm not saying he is taking back some of the money he is owed, and wouldn't necessarily blame him if he was, but to demand someone proves something that they basically can't is a bit futile.

I agree with Stranded - much as I didn't want Gylfi to go it may well be that we now have a much better balanced squad and with BM at the helm we now have the potential to keep the momentum from the end of last season. Just hope they gel, but at least we can now play more of a variety of combinations rather than tending to build the team around Gylfi

How would Rodgers seeing it coming get him the sack - did he start losing just so he would be sacked? Besides anyone who takes a job as manager here and does not understand how JM works has not done their homework - and having been here before there is no way Rodgers would not have been aware before he came let alone suddenly see the light in November.

I didn't say it did get him the sack. They obviously had some frank discussions about the quality of the squad and the players Rodgers said he needed in order to turn the results round and to move on.

I just wonder if he pushed the point a bit because he knew he needed to get fresh blood in asap before the cloth cutting got to the current levels.

My point was that until they come out and say what the money is for/where it's going then we don't know so Stranded's demand for proof is pointless.

We were told they needed to find £4m. We were led to believe (by the likes of yourself) that this was the figure we needed to trim from the opex and not just an injection of £4m in incoming transfer revenues.

We just don't know though.

It may well be that JM has had to call in some of the c. £20m the club still owes us. I doubt it, but we won't know unless he tells us or we wait to see it in the annual report in the best part of a years time.

We still have 3 similar dwarves up front-have any of them scored a goal yet this season?if so it can only have been one.
There is no alternative to these 3 .
If Lee Hendrie joins that would make it 5 of our first team squad over 30-that is not building a team for the future it is what Div 2 clubs do to try to prevent going down to The Conference and our well-run club is constantly telling us that there is ambition there-presumably the ambition is upwards although of course if it were to end up downwards the chairman would be beside himself at not having to fork out much in wages.

Christ, this is the same argument as the last time sold a player for millions.

We had a four million deficit in the budget.

It is not sold by one big player going because the fee will only save you for one year, without seeing the accounts we don't know how much of that deficit has been plugged, we would hope by now all of it.


It's my personal feeling that the club is being more sensible than splurging the money on the first signing that becomes available and i'd be very surprised if some of this money hasnt been set aside so we actually have something to spend in January as well.

Just like the money from player sales and wage reductions last year was meant to have fixed the deficit for last year and this! Yet this year, despite being so incredibly well run over all of these years, we have yet another massive deficit!

Only about as tiresome as people saying that SJM hasn't got any money that he could possibly spend on the club, none of them have ever shown any proof of that either...

no one is saying he doesnt have money- i have no idea what his personal fortune is, or what proportion of that is liquid.
th epoint is he isnt doing it any more, after years of doing so, and its his intention that if he cannot sell, then he will turn us into a self sufficient business, that doesnt need 5 million a year pumped into it.

ok ok, agreed- i let the anti whinger red mist decend.i was just going on evidence from previous accounts.

either way it will help though, if he takes it off th edebt then that will reduce his asking price for the sale of the club.

it is my guess that this will not happen, and this money will finance our existence for this, and alot of next season.

You have to hit Madejski where it hurts and that's in his pocket- I imagine if 3000 fans decided not to go for the season he'd soon catch on to the fact that we aren't happy. Booing will only serve to destroy the confidence of the few quality players we do actually have left here. I'm fully up for BOOING when he next comes on the pitch though, which I imagine won't be for a while. The Forest game he got a mixed reception, the fans are turning on him now- I really hope that means he sells up quick

as far as im aware the only gift was the money fior lita- and that may have been poetic licence.


all im saying is that- the books made total sense last time out. the club also made a statement saying jm wasnt taking any money from the club.
and i guess id rather go on that evidence, than none at all.

and as for the defecit-last seasosns was much bigger- we reduced the squad and wage bill, but due to decreased revenues we still had another 4 mill one this season, because we earn 4 mill less than we were spending.
now id say that now we have reduced wages further we will have say a 3 mill defecit next season, and i hope that the remains of gylfis profit will go on that, to ensure we arent forced to sell next summer too.

the defecit is a yearly gap between earnings and spending, so therefore it will always keep coming back!
