working class hero
Victor Meldrew
working class hero Kitson was brilliant today.Occasionally his flicks look poor - mainly because the intended recipient wasn't bright enough to see the possibility. Imagine him playing next to Torres and it would be superb. Rather more likely to happen in Liverpool than Reading mind!

Don't forget we have money to spend in January.

I don't believe it.....

Ian Royal
Pool and Darts Also, nothing to do with the football side, but he is actually a 'real' person.

He is not just one of the media-robot-idiot-cliche-spouting-brain-dead-book-writing-footballer-morons that I get so sick of seeing interviewed on MOTD.

The first time my wife saw him interviewed on the telly she was amazed, and said words to the effect of : "bloody hell, a footballer that isn't brain-dead, that makes a change!"

Voice of the people that man.

One day we will look back and Dave Kitson will regarded as a true Reading legend. May he stay here forever!

possibly the greatest all round striker we've had!

Remove "possibly" and you're spot on.

IMO, Jimmy Quinn was a very similar type of player. Great goalscorer with an all round game to match, although Kitson's defensive play is better. I think the key factor is intellegence.

According to today's Telegraph Dave Kitson is the leading English goalscorer in the premiership along with Rooney and Agbonlahor

It's not just according to the Telegraph, it's actually true !

Although just to put a dampner on it he's only the joint second highest scorer whose name begins with K.

I actually have England Uniform with KITSON 12 on the back.
I bought it via FA's ENGLAND DIRECT on-line shop site in February 2006.
Even one game, I wish Kitson to be England International.
I believe he deserves it.

Remember, he is also the star for all teenager who is working as a shop assistant dreaming to be football player.
Well, when he get a England cap, his own story can be the movie too.

Alan Partridge There is no way we should be starting a Kitson for England chant! He's only just about got himself fit for a month, you really want him off travelling and playing more games? He'll break down with some random injury.

In all seriousness he's not good enough. He's very much so good enough for Reading, he's our talisman in many ways. He's awkward, reasonably good in the air, although IMO not as good as he should be. Can score goals, and he is vitaly important for Reading at the moment.

But internationally? If he was Welsh or Irish he'd be in, no doubts. but England? Nah.

There are too many other options, who are younger, fitter and all in all and 'easier' pick for McLaren. It's easier for him to pick Defoe than Kitson even though he hasn't played much.

Kitson is FINALLY starting to prove he can cut it at this level and IMO should not even be considered for England at this time.

Not particularly picking on AP but quite a few posters took this line that our Dave isn't good enough.
Surely he has now gone ahead of Darren Bent and Porky Ashton in the ratings and I just loved the Daily Mail reporter's:-
"Reading's rampaging frontman Dave Kitson looked in a different class to the man who is supposed to be a certainty for England when he's fully fit again,West Ham's Dean Ashton".
Makes you feel good as a Reading fan, doesn't it?
So does the idea of "Kitson for England" chants now seem stupid as suggested by some on here less than 3 months ago?

I think he may get in a squad, but won't be a regular for England. Much the same as Shorey while they are playing for us

True. He'd make a useful squad player to take to a tournament though. Better option than Crouch IMO, don't think he'd work too well with Rooney, they both quite like to drop deep I believe. Could go well with Owen though.

Well done fans yesterday for giving full voice to "Kitson for England".
Incidentally Micky Quinn(not a bad striker himself) on Talksport suggested that Kitson should be considered for a call-up.
The message is getting through-power to the people.

BTW IF he had taken the 2 penalties and IF he had scored them he would be near the top of The Premiership scorers list.

Its him, Bent and Agbonlahor, all equal in terms of Premiership goals.

Now, Kitson and Agbonlahor wouldn't be a bad strike partnership.

I wonder what Kitson and the club would do if someone offered him £50kpw on a £10m fee next week. Not beyond the realms of possibility.

Everything he has said recently suggests he would hate to play for a team like Chelsea, Man Utd or Liverpool, but I wonder....

Still, at least Lita might get a game then.
