Money to spend

by Born Again Royalist » 30 Jun 2015 17:46

I can confirm that there is money to spend at Reading FC. Today I have witnessed a man up a cherry picker pressure washing the roof support steels so hobnobbers there is money to spend this summer.

Woodcote Royal
Nameless Woodcote you could reproduce many recent posts with a string of LOLs after them !

Football fans love to be negative, love to think wild supposition is fact and love to think they have the inside take (not pointing the finger at individuals, we're all guilty !)

While we're not the finished article by any means things are starting to happen at the club and those predicting meltdown are perhaps rethinking. And it's still June.

If, as looks possible, we hit the first week in July with 5 new players of first team pedigree and a new backroom team I wonder if anyone will be big enough to say ' I got that wrong'.

If we start the season with no keeper, no defensive cover, a hole in midfield and no attack I'll post naked for a week....

It would be less sad if the same people didn't post the same garbage that some of us have been reading for 15 years and more :|

No one from within the club, despite the way it was stitched up to the brink of administration by the Russians, gave the slightest inclination that there would be no transfer budget this summer but YET AGAIN this thread has been hijacked by the same idiots posting the same unsubstantiated shite for the umpteenth time :|

Do some supporters never get tired of being spectacularly wrong?

You apparently don't, on other issues at least.
From Despair To Where? ...and as for these much talked about budget talks between Clarke and the owners, I don't believe for one moment that Clarke didn't already have a ballpark idea of what was available and what terms he could offer and, if any such talks actually happened, it was just a question of the owners rubber stamping it.

If we can get McShane and a keeper in then anyone else would be icing on the cake of a pretty constructive window.

I'm now near positive that it was simply business at usual in RFC whereby the manager is aware of the finances situation and targets players appropriately, but doesn't have a formal budget as such. Each player is reviewed on a case by case basis and if that player is the right one and there's bang for your buck, then we'll try to sign them.

As ever, you are clearly busting a gut to add to the endless tedium of your War & Peace sized "contribution" to this site so feel free to offer examples.

FWIW, even you would struggle to compete with the same doom laden pre-season posts that some have been posting here for more than a decade, coinciding with the most successful period in the clubs history.

Nameless There were multiple songs for JQ.

I'm assuming most people aren't aware that you can have more than one song for a player.....

We can't manage one normally. Just dont recall ever hearing the mighty quinn one.

Chants are usually quite hard to hear on the radio and the coverage was even worse back then.

I like this.

Decisive, targeting the weak areas of the squad and all the doom and gloom speculation blown out of the water.

Just need a keeper now. I'd love to see Myhill but would be happy with Bentley or Fodderingham.

It would also be nice to strengthen down the left side of the team but that's not so critical.

Clarke said he wants a minimum of five players. He'll get a keeper and another striker but I also think he'll keep spending.

5 new players is the minimum to keep us competitive.

indeed 5 in just covers fedders, jem, pearce, chalobah, mackie -basically back to square one we will need a few more for us to improve on last year, maybe we will use the loan market again

There will be more than 5 signings.

Even if another two come in on loan, there will be more than 5 signings.

Until we sign a goalkeeper, the team as a whole is not stronger.

think the targets got or mentioned so far are all actually improvements on what has gone.
so I believe(if mcshane Donaldson and myhill come in) we will have already improved on last year.

Have to agree. If we could address the left back issue and cover at right back (Kelly or otherwise) and bring in an experienced third keeper in this window, I'd be delighted.
