CholseyRoyal
Royal Rother Well it wouldn't be very sensible to spend on quality players who are not within our budget. :?

Are you as excited as when the Russian overspent?

Hang on, most of these incomers are on frees so it must be the wages that are determining who we can afford, surely.

So were Pog, Guthrie and (i think) Drenthe. Just sayin'

On another post I predicted a position of 24th as this seemed to mirror our last championship relegation, but these last few signings have been solid (if not spectacular). NEED A KEEPER THOUGH. Maybe there are reasons to be cheerful - as fans we've been waiting for some good news for quite some time now.

Got one! The name's Bond, Jon Bond. From Watford. U21 England keeper. Presuming that he's going to be our number 2 next season...

I'm beginning to like the rebuild, Bond looks to be a steal if the £250k is anywhere near right. Happy with the permanent signings, possibly a couple of loanees to supplement and we should be in decent shape. "They" say it takes 3 transfer windows for a manager to get his own team together, this looks like a decent start.

Yeah, you can't argue with Sa, McShane, Quinn, Bond and Al-Habsi...

We could earn some money to buy even more players or increase wages of others as
understand Dominic Samuel is wanted by a Championship Team and a League 1 side.

Coventry want him on loan again
Clarke has said he'll get his chance here though so suspect we'll move others on rather than him.

Just want some interest from other clubs in taking some of our "lesser" first teamers in the remaining 8 weeks or so.

What's good about the signings so far is that it provides a whole new spine to the team.

Back in the day we have Hannaman, Sonko/Ingar, Sidwell/Harper and Doyle/Kitson and now the shape looks like Bond, Hector/McShane, Williams/Quinn and Sa/Pog. Since 106 season we have never looked so secure through the middle

That's the way to build a team

That's quite a leap of faith considering they haven't even played a game together yet!

Hopefully Clarke is a good judge of character and signing players with the right attitude. A team of Captains goes a long way.

Unless I have missed it, there is no new captain been announced yet ?? do we have an obvious choice in the present squad, McShane or Williams maybe ? or is Steve Clarke still chasing someone to fill the roll ?

Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous. We haven't seen Sa play yet and two of the other signings come with a big element of risk. Unlikely it will be as good a spine as the last one which got us promoted, or the ones in the seasons either side. Or either team straight after relegation...

impressed with our business so far.
If we carry on like this I might start dreaming of the plaoffs again.

McShane of the two for me. Williams is too sparky and pointed the finger at his team mates far too often last season. I'm not convinced he's captain material. He could be great, but equally he could split the dressing room too. Too risky for me!
