I very much expect if we’d try to press too much we’d have been picked off easily and lost comfortably

That front 4 aren’t great pressers either. DK should be but doesn’t do it consistently- Doyle again too passive, Marriott not really fit or mobile enough and still trying to work out what Camara does

I do think it’s difficult to criticise LR too much when we have the team we have plus injuries to our most physical forward and possibly the one with the most ability in Lane.

The window will be interesting and tell us a lot I think

It was a bit disappointing to basically attempt to hold out for a 1-0 win for the duration of the game following our goal. It felt like we got battered last night, but some good saves from Pereira (who might well have had his best game of the season so far) and important blocks, especially from Dorsett in stoppage time, earned us a draw.

I think Finley Burns did well given the circumstances, but obviously very concerning both Williams aren't in the team (we knew Derrick wasn't going to be).

One point on the style of play: perhaps there's an element of conservation of energy given we've got games on Thursday and Sunday too. An ultra-high intensity pressing game may leave us too exhausted by Sunday and we'll see a longer term benefit from how we played last night.

Defending a lead is fine. Being dynamic with the press is fine. Counter-attacking football is also fine. Standing off a team for three quarters of a game is just suicide.

There was a delay to the game at one point in the second half where LR got to chat with all the players and I thought: good - they can’t be playing like that on instruction, so he’s going to drum it into them that they need to close Peterborough down and rebalance the game before the inevitable equaliser goes in. Instead we went even deeper, played a back 8 and conceded.

I just can’t get my head around the managers mentality.
