Hoop Blah To those who asked why Rodgers didn't get Sinclair for us last year, I think he probably tried, but Sinclair and Chelsea were looking for a Premiership loan deal to test him at that level.

He ended up at Wigan for the whole season, didn't make an impact, and then Chelsea obviously decided he wasn't going to make it.

£££££ was probably more to do with it, or to put it more bluntly, our chairman.

No more to do with what HB said, or are you conveniently forgetting the money Rodgers did spend?

Probably no more than you are conveniently forgetting the value and sheer quality of the players he was made to get rid of and the funds (previously supposedly still available after the Smith fiasco), which he suggests he was denied when he wanted to strengthen the squad.

The came about because Swansea were very good at this 'tippy tappy' going nowhere football people keep moaning about. What they seem to fail to realise is that tippy tappy stuff pulled us out of shape and position and created the opportunity for a good ball to be played through onto the end of a good run.

Exactly! And through playing patiently in that style they will succeed in unlocking even the most stubborn of defences. They had come close to doing it on a couple of occasions before their goal and did it several times after. Pull the opposition out of shape, spot the gap, slip a well weighted pass into a well-time run forward and then it's down to the striker v the last defender and/or the keeper.

didnt say i didnt realise it pulled us around, and created the space for the goal.
just said i cant stand watching it tbf

Same.

Would anyone seriously have enjoyed Swansea's season last year? Having 70% posession every game and scoring 40 goals all year?

No Fanks.

Goals were the problem last year largely due to not finding a suitable replacement for Scotland. From what I saw, Souza played a more defensive style than Martinez but hopefully Rodgers' will expand on this and the GF column is looking better already.

1-0 away from home against a team above us in the league. I'll take that. Happy to be more expansive at home.

Oh, and 70% possession = the other team have less opportunity to score.

I try not to knock swansea SJ as if you look through my posts I am complimentary of the Swans style of play. Then again I only saw them with Scotland. I went to their game v Fulham in the FA Cup under Martinez the other year and was very impressed with what i saw.

You must have been pretty frustrated watching that on a regular basis last year though? Loads of 0-0's and 1-0's.

Passing football at pace and with a goal threat is the holy grail if you like. It's why Arsenal in full flow are the best to watch from a technical side. Swansea were getting there in terms of their style and swagger and as I said all Rodgers has to do with your club is find a regular scorer. He might have done that in Sinclair.

Fair play. Only saw 3 games last year as live overseas but there was certainly an issue taking chances (and half chances) in and around the box. The locals seemed to start losing patience as the season progressed. Had M*rtinez, Scotland et al stayed then think we would've had a chance at auto promotion last season. Sousa tried a number of strikers, the Board backed him, but ultimately none of these worked.

Still think we need that Scotland-esque poacher, Arsenal may have found theirs in Chamakh, but if Bodde returns then we'll have a hell of a goal threat from midfield in him, Sinclair and Pratley.
