Kitson12 Tranmere away 1997, 6-0
Ipswich at home 1997, 4-0
'Boro away 1997, 4-0
Stockport away 1998, 5-1
Sheffield United away 1998, 4-0
Preston away 1998, 4-0
Bristol Rover home 1999, 6-0 *shudders*
Millwall away 1999, 5-0

September 1997 - October 1999

38 goals conceded, 1 scored (a penalty) in those games. We really were utter turd in those days weren't we? I mean no disrespect o these teams, but can anybody seriously see us losing by four or more to the likes of Tranmere Rovers, Stockport County, and Bristol Rovers at any point in the near future?

Elmer Park
Gordons Cumming
After we lost 18-0 I said the very same thing:

That 18-0 defeat at Preston was one of the worst away trips I have been on. It was obvious from the start that the Manager had played the wrong formation and should have played an extra holding midfield player.

The journey back was miserable too as there were a lot of hold ups on the road back. Those highwaymen were a real nuisance.

Then once I got home and looked on HNA everyone was saying it was the worst defensive options the club had ever had.

Not the managers fault - it was the kit man - gave 'em the wrong boots.

In only 72% of games in which we won by a 4+ margin did we actually score more than 3 goals in.

^^^^^^^^^^
+ as many as I can think of.

Presumably we've had a serious number of own goals scored for us - that's the only explanation I can think of.

Sorry just being an arse.

With all the random stats being thrown about willy-nilly I thought I'd make up my own that were 'obviously' BS to mock random stats.

I would say whoosh but I guess it was just bad taste so I don't blame you guys for just wondering WTF I'm on about!

Jackson Corner Have been there when we sufferd 4 goal hammerings by Oxford and Swindon in the 80's. The worst though was Chesterfield away around 81 I think? We were behind the goal on the open terrace at the old Saltergate ground when Ollie Kearns gave us the lead after 5 minutes. Looking back we should have left then as Chesterfield went on to score SEVEN. And people moan now when we lose 1-0............ :o

Funny that - was still a regular a Saltergate in those days and can remember having great fun ripping the pi** out of the Reading fans on the Cross Street that day. Several had a total sense of humour failure at around 5-1.

JC Apart from the Bristol Rovers debacle the worst I remember was Walsall away in 1977. It was 0-0 at half-time and we went on to lose 6-1 !
I think I left before the end

So was the Bris Rov 0-6 at 0-0 at half time.

I saw us lose 0-6 at Walsall the year we walked the Third Div - 1986 - even though we never won a single game by a 3 goal margin that season IIRC.

You were not the only one at that Walsall game on a bitterly cold early February afternoon in 1986. I shall always remember Gary Peters trying to gee the team up as we took an absolute pasting.
