Just got home. Bit gutted as I thought we'd weathered the storm, then they go and get a goal from a set piece (that I think bryn could have avoided giving - but he was immense, so not going to criticise). Result probably the right one - we didn't offer enough up front, but we defended well other than the goal and take credit for the result. Mom liegertwood, khiz, McCarthy or bryn. Long was marked out of the game. Some great touches from kebe. No dishonour in today's result

You huddled the players on the pitch at full time, what did you say?

I just said to look around the Stadium, this is the kind of place we want to be playing every week. I just said remember that, and we can do it, I'm convinced, we've got a great bunch. I said to look at the fans behind the goal, what is important is to remember it and use it to kick on. I think over 24 games we've lost four, we've got resolve, quality.

Thought this was worth a mention

FiNeRaIn
That Friday Feeling In the car. An hour to get away from the car park.

Lots of 'well dones' from Citeh fans on the way out, but then they would wouldn't they?

Not really, they've got a rep of being absolute dicks, so if they were saying nice things then we must have done something right.

They won. That's why they were saying nice things. It's not to do with the way we played. Don't you get it?

Back in Sheffield. Managed to last in the home end without getting a kicking.

Thought we dealt with City really well, and for what its worth they will win oxf*rd all this year. Unbelievable tactics to come out with two holding mids against a Championship team at home; I suppose they weren't to know we had such a ramshackle back 4 (who all did brilliantly)

The counter-side of this is unfortunately we didnt quite create enough to be all that much of a bother. Thought that we did really well in centre midfield with Ledge and Tabb winning a lot and generally looking on top of City in the middle of the park, and Kebe and Mcanuff both did fairly well, shame to see Mcanuff go off because i thought Richards really struggled with him

Another good game for McCarthy.

Pretty devestating to go out to a set-piece.

McAnuff was gesturing to his hamstring when he came off...think it might have been precautionary.

Ian Royal Back from the pub. Arse. Bumsbumsbumsbumsbums. Arse.

Missed the first 15 thanks to Rugby. We never really looked like scoring. We played well and Citeh didn't really seriously threaten to score. Well taken goal from Richards, but Long  and Khiz could have done better.

No shame, especially seeing as we only had two defenders on the pitch and our keeper was under 22. No body put in a poor shift, but we just couldn't hold onto the ball well enough or provide any threat upfront... couldn't get the numbers forward.

Reading fans vocal and audible on the TV. Well done all. It was a good showing, but not meant to be.

They said Long on the TV but it was Noel Hunt that let the lump go.

Craig Burley in being a w@nker shocker...

He is so negative, he sounds like one of those Alan Green esque "pundits" who sounds like he hates football/life/his job and would rather be anywhere else than watching football.

Just got back. Got in and out of Manchester very easily. Parked 2 minutes from the ground in a rough and ready car-park in Hillkirk Street and got out very quickly.
Really liked Citeh's ground as well.
Unfortunately was in the home end in the North stand opposite the Reading fans. Heard you loud and clear before and during the game. You did the team proud.
The City fans in the North stand were dead quiet throughout until they scored. When they did score it was horrible. My 8 year old who is now a veteran of two quarter-finals couldn't hide how he felt and instantly bowed his head and struggled to hold back the tears. There were one or two strange glances towards us as they were all doing some kind of celebatory jig but sod it.
As for the game if thats the best City could do against a makeshift back 5 then they really should take a look at themselves. We looked the better side to start with. Both McAnuff and Kebe looked dangerous but their final ball was nearly always poor. Jobi's performance deteriorated thereafter.
After that they took control but didn't create that much and I honestly thought we could hold out for a draw. I actually thought McCarthy was going to save the header so was hacked off when it ended up in the net. I don't know who was at fault but with a makeshift defence what can any of us expect.
I thought Gunnar marshalled Tevez really well and Kish made a number of timely interceptions. Not sure if Kish was at fault for the goal. McCarthy was our MOTM. He really does look the part and is a brave lad. We are very blessed in the keeper department.
We never really troubled Joe Hart. Hunt was anonymous and was too deep on the odd occasions Long won the ball in the air. Long had one decent chance in the second-half but hit a tame shot straight at Hart. Kebe had the beating of the City defence but his final pass was often poor.
Some Citeh muppet was sitting behind me and kept on saying "If we score these("these" meaning Reading) will crumble.
We certainly didn't crumble and came out of the game with credit.
Now its back to the League. Again the results have gone in our favour. We can now make the top 6.

prostak I'm never sitting in the wrong end again.
Full credit to everyone from the fans to the impressive makeshift defence and the indomitable Brynjar. Sometimes you just can't beat the odds, and all those millions plus two holding midfielders made sure of that. What a graceless team City have become in such a short time. Jammy header from a fat right back then 20 minutes of timewasting. I'd rather have lost by 5 to Stoke to be honest.

I'm never sitting in the wrong end again either. Never.

Back in Chesterfield after a stop off at the in-laws in the Peak District!! Anyway, from where I was sitting at the far end of the East Stand, our fans sounded fantastic. My City supporting mate was dead impressed with the noise we made. He also raved about Bryn doing the best job on Tevez he had seen all season. Kebe was driving the City fans nuts, as he was causing havoc on the right wing. Just a shame that none of his final deliveries ever found another RFC player! My mate was also astounded to learn that Bryn/Jem/McCarthy were not first choices in their positions....even more amazed that Bryn/Jem are usually midfielders.

As for me,I thought we played well. We were never going to outplay them or out pass them. We had a few chances, Shane's chance in the 2nd half being the best one. Overall we could have created a little more going forward, but we were up against one the best teams in the country! We should be proud of how difficult our players made it for City. Well done lads and well done MaccyD!!

Worth adding perhaps that a good number of City fans were applauding our lot after the post-match huddle. Magnanimous in victory.
