readingfc_4_life_and_beyo The normally level headed Floyd pissed off... now i'm concerned.

That made me laugh.

5 years ago when Floyd used to be Pontius I christened him Pontius the Pendulum because every time we won he would be up on cloud 9 but one poor performance and he'd be on the virge of contemplating suicide.

Some things never change!

That would be because - although I referred to yesterday's game initially - I then went on to make a point about conceding possession easily in every game I have seen so far this season. I thought perhaps it was worthy of a seperate thread and I have had some interesting replies thus far, yours not being one of them.

I didn't realise we had to justify posting a new thread anyway?

Interesting. I always thought it was since I had a pop at your regarding being bored of Leroy Lita that you had it in for me.

I wasn't the one complaining about egocentrism, was I?

The one thing I don't want to see is us turning into 'just another Premiership club" - 4-5-1, bustling centre forward, dull, direct football.

Four points from a very difficult opening series of fixtures is a decent return and our forthcoming matches are winnable so we should be fine. However I do think excuses have made given for Saturdays result particularly regarding International friendlies. Most other Premiership clubs have to put with it so we have to as well. I think it is great that we can field a starting 11 as we did against Everton with 10 Internationals on the pitch. I always remember back in the 1970's when Leeds were up there with the best in English football that they could boast a complete team of Internationals.......little did I think we would be in that position one day. We cant have all ways. If we sign players from other countries we cannot deny them the chance to play for their national team. The fact they become established for their country also adds to their worth in the transfer market so it is of benefit to the club. International managers just like club managers want friendlies to experiment and prepare for forthcoming competitive matches. It has always been thus although it is probably worse now due to the greater number of qualifiers played these days with so many more"European" countries emerging in their own right. We have to accept it and move on.
