Created a lot of goodwill due to his massive improvement between arrival and promotion. Then he lost it all again by being shit and havind a bad attitude.

So overall I declare myself emotionally neutral about his time at Reading and given his present form, it has to be seen as good business.

<Schards mode> not that we'll see any of the money mind you</Schards>

The recent form that made him MOTM against Forest and Plymouth and our best defender and striker against Charlton? Ok.

Goat and brendy say it all in the first two posts of this thread.

Cheerio, Sonks - 2.5 million and we're having a laugh.

Oh well, that confirms Stoke's relegation... :-)

The first yellow and the penalty were jokes. For the penalty, neither official could see it. For the first yellow, what's he meant to do, jump out the way of the player running right at him? There was nothing he could do there.

I agree its good money, but do you think we are building and replacing departing players with the quality to do as JM and SC say "go back up" ?

First player to reach top of east Stand roof with a clearance?

I don't think he's worth £2.5m but I am not going to argue with Tony Pulis.

The Goat was fed 1. That goal against Palace.
2. Numerous hilarious clearances.
3. THAT clearance at Ipswich.
4. Some utterly incredible performances - Southampton away in the Champ and West Ham away in the prem spring to mind.
5. Playing on having just ruptured his cruciate ligament.

6. Hoofing the ball into his own face during a 3-0 defeat at Preston.

7. The Burnley fans Cheering and laughing everytime it went near him as he just hoofed it for 90minutes.

8. Being sent off against Pompey just as I'm taking my seat really hoping we beat them pikeys for the first time ever!!

9. Dismissed within 3 mins of kickoff against Villa, causing Bobby Convey to throw a 'Kevin the Teenager'-style strop when subbed off straight after!

Um, I don't think it was within 3 minutes, because we'd already scored. And wasn't it Lita who was subbed?

Given we took the lead after about 3 minutes ...

Unless I've missed a game.

At his best, imperious.

At his worst, ... :x ... :| .... ...

He was.

He also made a similar foul against Luke Moore at the Villa game and got sent off. People defended his 'tackle' when I've made cleaner rugby tackles.

rfc58 - yes, I do. From the little I have seen of Pearce he's more than a match for Sonko. BK ditto for Ingi.

We still have - on paper until SC has the gonads to stick 'em in the team - a great promotion winning team.

Of all the outgoings over the summer, it's Little and Kitson we miss most.

Definitely need a right back, two centre midfields as cover - hopefully Harper will be off in the next 48 hours - and an old pro forward when, hopefully, Doyle will be off for at least 7 million.

Everyone's happy. JM lines his pockets. SC gets rid of the egos. Team bonded. Impetuosity of youth.

Considering how embarressed a lot of us were for him at Preston when he hoofed the ball into his face, he came a hell of a long way. Another peice of Coppell magic!

Brilliant defender for us.

Missed already.

Apologies... . It was against Pompey, and it's been mentioned above! Convey spat the dummy when they subbed him off, particularly as he'd just had the best chance of the game following Sonk's dismissal.

To think Pearce is better than Sonko is laughable, Pearce has potential but lacks pace.

And IF he is better, and SC knew Sonko was off, why not bed in him before we play the big guns ???

2.5m is a no brainer! He has been great for the club, and was a key player in what was the best season Reading have ever had (since ive supported them anyway). In all honestly though, i'm glad to see him go as he has been a liability.

Good luck to him at Stoke!
