The Surgeon of Crowthorne Except Tyson was played more as a winger than striker back then.

I think he was a bit of both, that he do either role if necessary, much in the same way Rougier was used.

Rougier was always a winger, never a striker. Just happened to be top scorer in a particularly shit Port Vale side which eveidently fooled a lot of people into thinking he could play up front. He did a hell of a lot better for us than people give him credit for.

Agreed. Unfortunately he rather blotted his copybook with the ridiculous showboating battle against Gazza during Parky’s testimonial.

Rougier was an awful striker but a very good winger.

RG30 You could argue it was before, his goalscoring record in the 01/02 campaign up to his injury didn't exactly set the world alight.

Though he did score at Northampton away which was probably a small turning point in the season with Kev Watson & John Salako making their RFC debuts 8)

That Northampton game was hugely significant. I think it also marked the league debut of Shorey, and ushered in a new brand of football with Dillon taking over from the Mad Dog.Without these changes the club would never have gone on to gain promotion that season.

The best spell of football in his career since leaving Norwich came with Reading, whom he joined in 2000. He played at Reading for three years. While at the club, the RFC supporters' trust had a newly discovered star in the "Perseus" constellation named after him.

from wiki, didn't know that!

Our luck is that he will score! Always prefered Butler to Curo to be honest, not too sure why just did.

"I had three great seasons and Reading and it was probably my best time in football. We won promotion and were in a Play Off Final. As a club they have moved on and spent time in the Premier League. They will be a force in this league and will be looking to go straight back up.

"It would be great to score my first goal for Barnsley on Saturday and nice to get one against my old club".

All the right things for him to be saying.
