Never the same player after Chris Riggot did him in the Boro game at the Mad Stad.

We have moved on as a club since selling him, and to take him back at this time would be a retrograde step for the team.

Loved him. Love his gobbyness. Loved his intelligent football. But never go back is a pretty good mantra in love and football. I fear that if we re-sign him he'll kill those old memories. And his knees are probably gone.

weybridgewanderer Big change day for Kitson was the 6-4 game at white hart lane

he scored twice away from home and yet we still lost. I can imagine what I would have be saying in the dressing room!

Then it was a case I think of his head fell, a 7-4 and a 6-4 away from home, so we were banging in the goals but still not winning games.

I don't believe he was the same player after that.

That was definitely a turning point for Reading & Kitson last year - the team turned negative after that and all our scoring dried up. I guess only the dressing room knows how much of that was down to Kitson.

Kitson doesn't deserve a return to us - he's the one who walked out and we're not a charity. He's made his bed and he can lie in it.

Rather have Lita nowadays than Kitson

Really? You'd have someone who has scored three goals for us in 18 months, who we have unsuccessfully tried to offload, than a player that, if fit, would be one of the best in the league.

I'd have him back in a second, he offers something different to what we have, is less thick than most footballers, produces moments of magic.

Lita, on the other hand, produces moments of idiocy, uslessness, cheating, attitude, sulking and general oxf*rd.

IMO the problems Kitson caused were because he was outspoken and didn't have any issue with telling some of the others how shit they were performing to their faces.

We didn't want to lose him, but couldn't really turn down Stoke's offer and he decieded he had to take his chance at Prem level whilst he still could.

I'd be more than happy to have him back, I don't think it would disrupt the dressing room any. He's is easily good enough, he just made the wrong call going to Stoke and it doesn't suit him there. They don't play the right way and don't have enough quality to feed him.

Kitson is a player that would help us with our need to bring in a Plan B. His passing, control, vision and ability to drop deep would make it much much easier to link attacks through the middle more. Especially combined with Matejovsky

Won't happen though.

juanpablo no thanks, let it go hasnt been the same player for ages

Agreed, I`ve always thought he was fantastic and one of his biggest fans, but let sleeping dogs lie and all that. Time to look forward, not backwards, as somebody else on this forum suggested why don`t we go for someone of the calibre of Matty Fryatt (example), Lita has commited his immediate future to us and maybe he`ll sign a new deal should he be offered one.

Because Kitson is light years ahead of Fryatt.

But not as fit on a consistent basis.

Crikey, I could have sworn that the player who produced that absolutely magical overhead kick was black not ginger!!

Bring back Kitson and his outspoken attitude towards some of his team mates and watch the fantastic team spirit, which we currently appear to have, rapidly disappear!

Good player but perhaps not the team player SC currently wants.

We had pretty good team spirit when Kitson was here and we were good. We are good now, I don't see a problem.

Kitson has got a fantastic record at this level and a fairly good one for us at Prem level. Especially considering his injuries and teh way we played last season.

Lita has a patchy record at Prem level and a good one at this level. That's all.

Well we got £5.5m so I think that we are the 'winners'

After Kitson left for Stoke, I believe that SC offered some interesting insights into his (Kitson's) 'contribution' to team spirit last season.

BTW,would we want a player with a criminal record or does the requirement to be pure as the driven snow only apply to Lita?!

Totally agree with Tilehurst Mike when he says that we'd seen the best of Kits and 5.5 mill was a decent price.

When Focher says
resign Kitson for a 'reasonable' fee
. That's exactly what we've done mate. Resigned him to Stoke for a very reasonable fee.

He's gone, move on. I hope he finds a more suitable club after Stoke. And I hope he never scores against us, obviously.

I do wish we had his physical presence and height up front again though. I worry that our forwards are going to all look a little bit "leroy'" in stature up against Prem defenders.

I'm guessing but maybe the interview he gave saying he had matured, realised his mistakes and wanted to commit to RFC has had more impact than the goal.

I'm unconvinced, but time will tell all, so I'm going to be optimistic and welcome him back to the fold with cheery chanting and high hopes
