I am not sure about who would be approachable, I think it's more like who with any ambition would want it ! a club with no ambition or desire on the footballing front, who sells all the familly treasures and replaces them with look alike replicas............is there anybody that desperate around ??

The biggest worry is that fact madejski thinks we have a squad capable of getting to the prem, is he taking the piss? This is the worst reading squad since we were relegated from elm park, It would struggle to gain promotion out of league one. ALOL premierleague squad, Made my morning.

It's a League One/Two squad. Can think of only a handful of players who are Championship standard (apart from Kebe who's apparently Premier Class).

This is because he has not got a clue about football........this is why he needs to get shot of the club as soon as possible before we are back where we started !

The man with his idiotic lame comments is becoming an embarrasment, with his stupid statements about it being a good squad it's only good to him because it's cheap !

Wycombe Royal
Ryn
russyb Madejski said: "We are trying to get back into the Premier League and I believe we have a great squad and a great manager to do that."

That, my friend, is deluded.

I do wnder why they have to keep setting expectations so high. It puts undue pressure on the manager (although he has done that himself) and on the players.

And ultimately it just makes them look stupid.

I agree WR, and that's why some fans I expect are more vocally angry than others. The ones that listen to the chairman and board continually state their promotion ambitions, when in reality Rodgers has got a squad which has been gutted. The only ones left are the only ones they couldn't sell, plus kids, plus some cheap signings. I don't think Rodgers is doing a particualrly good job but he isn't aided by these totally unrealistic claims from the Chairman.

WHY does JM keep on about getting into the Premiership? RFC must read this board and think that ALL supporters are mugs.

It does seem that he makes himself a hostage to fortune.

Of course he's damned whatever becasue if he set 'realistic' expectations there would be an outcry over lack of ambition.

The trick has to be, as ever, to set expectations slightly below the level you know you can deliver. Which is probably next to impossible in football without leaving yourself open to the charge of lacking ambition.

I don;t think it takes much of a footballing brain to know that Rodgers has at least a 2 year project to get us promoted - this year was never, ever going to be one where the Premiership was a possibility and I can;t imagine anyone with half a brain would feel it was 'unambitious' for us to be treating this year as a regroup / rebuild season. Although perhaps those who were screaming for Rodger's head after a handful of games might !!

I'm not screaming for him to go, but it would help if we weren't so close to the relegation zone.

I think everyone is more than ware that we're not promotion candidates this year and if it wasn't for Rodgers saying things like "world class model" and "want us to be in Europe" then I think we'd have a lot more time for him.

It's definitely not a Premiership squad but I'd say it's not League 1 either. Ivar is accomplished and experienced at this level and was our player of the season in 06/07. Bryn would be a useful addition to most squads in this league even though his legs are going a bit. Nunt got 18 goals in the SPL and looked good last season before his injuries. Tabb was Coventry's player of the season. O'Dea and Bertrand are both highly rated by the clubs we are loaning them from. Sigurdsson and Karacan are the most talented players I've seen come from our academy (that's not saying much for somebody who's only supported since 2000 but they're still good enough for this level). Rasiak has not been good for us so far, but his goal scoring record at this level matches Kevin Doyle's. McAnuff has been a journeyman in this division for years. Matejovsky is a full Czech international and has always shown glimpses of class. Mills was a good player for Doncaster and is rated at £2mill. Federici has been one of our better performers this season Sheff Utd aside. Kebe is unplayable at this level on his day, his day just doesn't come often enough.

Our squad is good enough to compete at this level. Players are just not being used properly.

Spot on AP, BR can only do with what Madejski has left him, this job is a poison challice to any manager as long as Madejski is in charge

Heard it all before.
Dreaded vote of confidence my backside.
...STEVE COPPELL has told Reading chairman John Madejski "Thanks, but no thanks" for the vote of confidence he got last week. ..

Same old.

like i say i just posted it as reported in the sun.

I do think however those quotes from madejski were from a different article and have been conveinently used by the Sun to generate a story.

Two points.

Two wins in eleven games.
How do we know that's a recent quote from SJM, given the Sun can't actually get the number of games we've played correct.

We aren't good enough for the Premiership, but are too good for the likes of League 1. I'll give Brenda the vote of confidence for now.

Tit, what evidence have you got to suggest that we are too good for league one?

Was just going to say the same as Ian.

Where is the quote from, what squad is he talking about?

Why do people believe anything they hear/read in the media?

I'd say the fact that we are in the Championship is better evidence than anything you could produce to the contrary !

Even if the ended the season now we wouldn't be a Div 1 club

We'll see, being 19th in the championship does not mean you are too good for league one. I bet if we were in that league we wouldn't be near the promotion places.
