Yes - and unlike you I actually understand it.

Is this the same recession that has barely effected any other sides in the championship?

Getting rid of Rodgers when we did was the right thing to do. Not having a replacement lined up was not.

WELL RUN CLUB? Dont make me laugh.

And which also had precious little effect on extremely well run, successful businesses!

Presumably as such a well run football club 'a business model envied by many', RFC fell into that category?!

Have you seen the fall in attendances at many other clubs????? Not just RFC, next season will be a real eye opener with regards to ST sales at many clubs t this level, time to smell the coffee and really drop the wages to the players, also time to go back to 3 subs, clubs cannot afford 7 or whatever it is thses days.

Those comments by O'Dea are really quite disturbing.
As somebody already said he wasn't shown any favours by Rodgers in terms of being selected so you would not expect him to back the manager to the hilt to the exclusion of others.
Very strong words indeed.

Jonny Fordham commented once that things were very wrong with the sacking of Rodgers, but wouldn't go into any detail.

Interesting.....worrying......

Well its not right is it? O'Dea's comments do suggest that Rodgers hands were being tied behind his back and you can't manage successfully in that situation.

That is a truly outrageous thing to say! Are you seriously putting that forward as a cogent argument?

But the crucial question is whether you accept a job knowing your hands will be tied behind your back or not....

Do you not think that it might be good for getting young players into squads (under recession conditions I mean)? Teams that can't afford experienced surely just have to use whatever kids they have available. Just a thought.

Anyway back to topic. Those comments by O'Dea sum up what's wrong with this club pretty well if you ask me. I'd love to see McDermott do well for him, the team and us but having said that, if we got relegated I think that lot in charge would surely have to shoulder more of the blame than BR and BM. But none of them will ever see it that way.

Something horribly wrong at Reading? Shock, horror, you don't say??

This is nothing we don't already know.

The decision not to go for it when in the Prem was dodgy.

The decision to bring Rodgers in was dodgier.

And whilst Rodgers was clearly awful (with what he was given) the decision to sack him WITHOUT AN IMMEDIATE AND DECENT REPLACEMENT was SHOCKING.

Things aren't right at RFC and the sooner Madejski gets the **** out and we get someone in who appreciates the huge potentiality of this large and growing town with a massive catchment area and makes something of it, like Hull, the better.

...and the other 22 teams? Have they all had to sell £12 million worth of players, cut their wages in half and only bring in £3 million of players to cover all that?

And which of those other 22 teams have recently been in the Premier League with a £30Mill per year wage bill whose parachute money is about to run out?

Three parachute payments?

And the TV money does not cover the wages required in the Prem. And definately does not cover the investment required to greatly improve the chances of staying there.

So people need to open their eyes to the finances involved in running a football club.
