Mr Optimist Franchise you mentioned a 5-2 game. I'm certain that was Barnsley away midweek in the late 80s Div 2 relegation season. We were 2-0 up and on the supporters coach. Arrived just in time to see their first goal go in followed by the next four. On a big open terrace at Oakwell and it was bloody freezing!

I was on the coach of doom that night. As usual in those days the only "joy" we had was to piss off the old farts at the front of the coach by singing, we know a song that'll get on your nerves, for at least half the journey back, crazy days.

You're right (I knew it was Yorkshire, but the memoery's beginning to dull a bit).

Was it only one coach ? If so, where were you sat ?

What makes me laugh is the attacking player celebrating as if he scored the winner in a cup final :D

Most likely towards the back but not quite the last couple of rows. Also that season I remember a wacky coach trip to Bradford (in fact I'm sure there were about three with cup replays!) and running around the away terrace at Valley Parade with the Smiths coaches white headest covers on our heads with Denny trying to grab them off our heads. Fortunately I think by the next season a couple of us had passed our tests and one of us bought an old banger and the coach trips became crap road trips instead!

Anyone remember Mark White's own goal against I think Hartlepool (1977/78?).

Freezing day and bone hard pitch - he hit a back pass from somewhere near the half way line and it bounced over Steve Death's head.

You are right Mr O. I'm pretty sure Steve R's OG was a pretty darn good scissor kick too.

It was funny to see the delight/dissapointment of the Coach 1'ers trun to abject disgust as the goals rained in.

Stuart Morgan's own goal, as per the 38 Years ago today thread, I suppose. It didn't seem funny at the time, mind you.
Also recall a real cock up at Griffin Park between the Brentford keeper and one of his defenders many years ago, leaving Gary Peters to tap into an empty net. It was the year of our record start to the season, Trevor Senior notching a late winner in that game.

Just remembered one..... a goal for us scored by a Notts County defender (Richardson?) in the early Mad Stad days under Burns. A headed own goal from about 40 yards out that went over their keeper who rushed out.

Even better was that it was the only goal of the game!

Any and every OG by Martin Hicks. The worst was the 18 yard header "against" Aldershot in about 1990/91 in the Mickey Mouse/Leyland DAFT Cup. 3-1 defeat. It was dire!

Bolton's Phil Brown's diving header for us from the edge of the area in the early 80's.

That's the one I always remember - it was never 40 yards though, more like 20.

Franchise FC I nearly forgot - Ian Dowie when playing for West Ham. Bulleted a header into the far corner past the flatfooted keeper. Hilariously, the wrong end.

That was against Stockport in the FA cup.

Back pass that was missed and went in IIRC.

Lost 3-0 first day of the season.

Seem to remember a 2-0 defeat against Darlington 85/6 when we managed two comical own goals.Possibly the worst Reading game i have seen, and in the season we ran away with the league.
