Big McC Have to smile at some of the posters on this thread! "The irony of the information age is that it has given new respectability to uninformed opinion" John Lawton (1995) in address to American Association of Broadcast Journalists.

Don't debase uninformed opinion. I keeps us all going.

It sure does. But there's uninformed and just plain stupid! Agree it fun though!

I don't get why an uninformed opinion is any less valid than any other. If it's your opinion then you're entitled to it no matter what information is available. Otherwise we'd all agree on everything.

No sorry we wouldn't agree on everything. That's the point of forums and debate. Everyone has an interpretation of the facts and forms an opinion as they see fit. They may differ in opinion, but that's what is needed for healthy debate. I may disagree with others' opinions, but I can respect those oppinions if they are based on sound facts or evidence.

When it comes to matters of scientific fact they are surely synonymous? Football now, there's a very different thing...

Man Friday So 99% of the scientists are wrong and you Andrew, aged 52 and 3/4, is correct. I had my suspicions about you from your complacent pro-Rodgers drivel, now I'm convinced.

Don't tell me all the complacent pro-Rodgers brigade (Royalee is even anti-Coppell FFS) are in the conspiracy camp whereas the realists are, well, realists?

Actually scientists are split about 50/50 on the issue of global warming - not that you will ever hear that on the news.

Actually 52 and one month.

Is 52 your IQ?

No surprising as it will be to you my IQ is around 150 on the Mensa scale - in the top 2% of the population.

On topic - global warming.

At the onset of the industrial revolution in the 1800s we burned more coal than at any other period in the Earth's history.

By the turn of the 20th century every house burned coal, every factory burned coal, there were huge clouds of thick smoke and carbon dioxide billowing into the atmosphere at an astonishing rate. By the 1950s, London was famous for it's 'pea-souper' smog, so dense that you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. Every building was black with carbon.

And yet during that period global temperature hardly changed at all. Odd.

When you get into bed and pull the duvet over you, do you warm up straight away?

Nope, central heating means my house is warm already when I go to bed.

Ryn Nope, central heating means my house is warm already when I go to bed.

Including under your duvet? I find that hard to believe.

Anyway, can you comprehend my analogy? Perhaps consider a time when your central heating was so bloody efficient!

largetrousers said on 9th Dec
Im told via reliable sources (a good mate of an ex player - I wont name and shame) that Rogers only had 2 games left (last night included), if this proves fruitful and we dont get a result on Sat I guess that means he's on his way? We'll see...but is this all his fault? Some is, but not all - Madjeski and Hammond should take a good look at themselves to see what they have to offer us.

Told you so!
