If he goes, and we get a good fee, good luck to him.
However if it does not happen, I don't have a problem with him staying and playing, like some seem to.
None of us know why he wanted to talk to them. He if thinks it's to better himself, then so what.......have none of you ever been happy in a job, but still looked and spoke to other companies to see what was on offer??
Bloody hell, let's hang him!!!!!

So he hasn't put in a transfer request but he wants to speak to Cardiff. How does that work?

One of the many reasons I hate modern football.

If you want to go then just fuck off but don't take the piss as well.

WAZZOCK Adkins is damned is he does, damned if he doesn't.

Player makes mistake - Doesn't blame player, puts positive spin on things = HNA Bellends saying he is full of bullshit
Player makes mistake - That was Morro's fault = unfairly singling out players

Jesus wept

Nope, on the radio you just say "we made a mistake defensively" and then in the dressing room you single out the player responsible.

Jesus wept.

If we get £1.5m this is good business - I say get rid.

If we ever want to play a game through midfield, players like Morrison have to go. Several goals conceded since xmas have been down to his poor positional play.

Hector and/or Ferdinand much better options

Many times, last season and this one already, when Reading have lost points because of defensive mistakes and a last-minute goal by the opposition, it was because of Sean Morrison. He's a likeable enough chap but too prone to making costly mistakes. It's sad that he wants to leave but, now that he's effectively said he wants to go, he should be encouraged out of the door as quickly as possible. It was nice knowing you, Sean, but bye bye!

Don't think we should take less than £2m. cardiff will try force fee down now he seems keen to actually want to go

I would have thought permission to talk to them = fee agreed so hopefully £4m is coming our way

Nameless Ferdinand is 29' so if that is old, heaven help some people on this board !

There is no suggestion we have sought to seek a buyer, or that Ferdinand has been. Brought in to replace him.

And we've got several players in the Academy who are way, way better prospects thanMorrison. Of course they need to realise their potential, but some of them play a different game to him. None have his physical presence yet, but a couple of years of steak and beer will give them that !

In football terms 29 is old.
We have always had "prospects" (remember how good Peter Castle was going to be and last seen playing for Bashley aged about 29?) but it is one hell of a jump from kiddies' football to playing Championship stuff as the likes of Ugwu and D'Ath (both much vaunted on here)have found.
We ALL live in hope that some of these kids will make it but , reading posts on here, you would think that we never had good youngsters before whereas Adie, Scott Taylor, Archie Lovell, Neil Webb et al didn't do too badly for themselves.

I think £2m is going to be a bit hopeful.

2 million would be a good deal for Reading, not in the Andy Hughes class but good nonetheless. I reckon 12 million for Shane Long which Southampton paid yesterday to Hull is in the Andy Hughes class though.

When he first broke into the team he looked like he had real potential, but he hasn't really kicked on and could actually be said to have gone backwards since his injury.

Not particularly worried if he leaves, especially if we manage to get a 7 figure transfer fee for him. Equally though I won't hold it against him if Cardiff are offering silly money and a contact that he can't turn down. He may also want to go because he knows he's not up to the style that Adkins wants to play and that he'll be the one to make way when Ferdinand is fit

I suppose if you have had around £95 million in the odd reckless buy is understandable.

Victor Meldrew So we might be selling a player with some potential (still not much older than some of our Academy players who apparently have so much potential) but have brought in an old crock with no potential.
If it were the other way round you could say that we are building a team but it isn't.

Hopefully Hector will get his chance in his proper position unless Adkins decides to play him on the wing or in goal.
BTW does anybody know if Swindon would benefit from a sell-on clause?

It's quite important when you have a very young squad, to have some experienced hands to guide them.

We don't need much in the way of young promising players, because we've got a shit ton of them already. What we are lacking is a little bit of experience to temper that young blood.

All the other centre backs in the squad, obviously.

For those who don't know that's:

Pearce, Hector, Ferdinand, Sweeney, Cooper, Dickie, Hyam... I think Keown has played there a bit and there'll be more entering the U18s this season, but they're probably a bit too young to consider even remotely. Then I believe there's also Kelly and Gunter who've both played there and can't both play right back.

And obviously there's the point Morrison hasn't gone yet. And that if he does the transfer window hasn't shut yet. And when it does there's still a loan window.
