Avon Royal Adkins more likely.......

He played for them in goal, he had a decent track record before he came here, so I would say he`s the favourite

Proven in getting promotion out of League One, prefers a more passing brand of football, it'd be a decent fit. The only issue is Wigan don't necessarily have the infrastructure and support to do anything but drop like a stone.

Wigan don't play that passing football any more either. That went out the window with their two manager changes since Martinez left. Adkins might well go there, but they're under a new chairman, and their fans seem to think there's no money in the club any more, it could well put him off.

May be stating the obvious, but if we win tonight and get a point against Blackburn on saturday, Millwall need atleast 1 point from their next two games (1 being against Watford) to at most be able to reach level points with us if we lost our last 5. Therefore if Millwall lose their next 2 and we take 4 points from our next 2, we are safe. All but there really

Just been analysing the table & run ins.

Cant see either Wigan or Millwall taking more than 6 points (maybe 8 ) out of their last matches (only five for Wigan) - hopefully they will draw in their match up, so given we are 10 ahead we should be ok.

You'd hope so.

I can't see Millwall picking up more than 12 points & that's being generous. One more win would surely see us over the line??

Who would have said that Reading, Brighton, Fulham & Wigan would be in the bottom 7 this season? Mental league this year. Just goes to show relegation from the Prem can really fcuk things up.

Millwall won't get to our current total - they've got Watford and Derby at home plus Blackburn and Wolves away

Matches as follows:

Watford (H) - lose
Wigan (H) - ?
Cardiff (A) - should lose
Blackburn (A) - should lose
Derby (H) - lose
Wolves (A) - lose

So lets assume they win the 'should lose', thats 6 points, and then give them points for the other 4 at the average / game they have (0.9) and that gives 9.6 points. In my view thats generous given the last 2 games - so 8 points is quite realistic.

Why should we worry what other teams will do, fact is its massively in our hands - win the next 2 and we're safe

But what if Wigan get a new manager bounce. They could put 4 or 5 game streak together. That makes our games against Birmingham and Rotherham very big games. Brentford are still in then play off hunt so will be difficult and Derby on the last day of the season!? They may still need all three points to get auto promotion. Birmingham with their mid table safety are probably our best chance to pick up three more points this season (and perhaps Blackburn as well)

Our best chance of getting points will be from decent teams....we never do well against crap teams. I reckon we could nick an unlikely point next Tue or even 3....they will be wanting a decent performance turned in before the Arsenal game.

Even if Wigan get a bounce & win say 4 of their 5 games - they'll only get 47 points. We're on 46 now. Wigan are gone.

Wigan have won 8 from 41 - Highly unlikely they'll suddenly turn into a decent side & win their last five. They can only get 50 points as a max & they have to play Wolves & Brentford who are both vying for promotion.

I said about 6 weeks ago 45 points will be enough. I stand by that.

Fair point. Hadn't actually looked at the table this evening. Thought they had more games left for some reason

We'll be fine this season, it's next season that I'm worried about after another summer of cloth cutting.

We have 4 home games in a row now. The Rotherham game should be a dead rubber.

Even if pick up just 4 points from these games (our current form is a point a game), Millwall will need to win 4 and draw 2 of their last 6 just to get level with us, whilst improving their goal difference by 11 and scoring 10 more goals than us to go past us. Wigan would need to take maximum points.

We are fine, lets just get the Arsenal thrashing and then the rest of the season out of the way.

Wigan can only get a maximum of 48pts now, so 1 more win sees them off

So we probably want them to beat Milwall now .... or draw and they effectively can't catch us.
