In my honest opinion, if Shane doesn't win, it's criminal... It's not so much about goals either, his workrate has been absolutely mental and he has put in every ounce of effort. Also, taking into consideration - losing Gylfi, and every one of us, including myself saying, "Where the oxf*rd are the goals gonna come from now?" He has stepped up, completely.

Leigertwood though, has to be next in line... with Karacan in 3rd.

All effort players.

Z175 Chris Armstrong for me.

Anyone who can play 8 games with MS should be player of the season. I hope people will join me in voting for him. Otherwise its another landslide - Shane Long!

This is lovely, and I completely agree... but yeah, if only.

For those who think Shane Long suddenly became a good player half way through the season they really cannot have attended a match before December.

From day one of the season Long has been incredible. He was receiving MOTM plaudits from most fans week after week long before he started scoring goals. I can only think of a perhaps one or two quiet games all season. He was painfully short of confidence in front of goal early on but Brain obviously gave him belief and the rest as they say is history. To me being a great striker is not just about goals but also work rate and running the opposition ragged and Long ahas done that brilliantly all season.

So there realy is only one contender for player of the season and that is reflected in the voting on here.

However, I feel sorry for Karacan who in another season would have got my vote - he has been outstanding.

Leigertwood could well deserve the title of "player of the half saeason" and Harte, Griffin, Kebe and McAnuff all deserve a mention.

Armstrong deserves the title of "bravest player of the season" but there really is only one contender for player of the season this year.............Shane Long.

It's nailed on for Shane Long but my vote goes to Ian Harte. He came here labelled a washed up has been but he's been superb for us. A couple of iffy performances and he was rightly dropped, but he came back a better player and he's been a rock for us at left-back, and his goals so important in the absence of last years star goalscorer Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Vote: Ian Harte

In fairness Ivar has done a decent job, but he simply isn't the player he used to be. He's 4th choice and rightly so.

Long totally deserves it. He gives blood for the team

Harte has been immense.

Legs has sorted the team, but only here for less than half a season.

Karacan has been excellent.

Bit there can only be one winner (unless you say "Team" which is probably the real winner)

You've got to remember that Long has played pretty much all of the season with some sort of injury. Any other player could have cried off, but Long still runs his socks off, takes his knocks and gets back up.

I wrote something on the QPR away back from the game, that Long was doing all he could but no one else was working as hard as him. He's been a revelation the last 18 months.

Long, Ledge and Karacan for me.

Shane will win, and rightfully so, but I voted Mikele purely because he remains unbeaten and has made a huge impact on us.

I recks it'll be:

1 Shane
2 Kebe
3 Leigertwood / Jem

Williams played well today but my blood pressure took a battering every time they got the ball down the right.

Lolz sounds like Marcus.

Shane Long. He's been incredible this season. Again today he did a lot of hard running and so often beat the defender to the ball. He holds the ball up so well these days and looks to run past the defender and often does so. He's scored 23 and has assists to his name as well.
Totally deserved for a player who has given 100% commitment and put his body on the line.

Couldn't agree more.

I bumped into Shane in Waitrose car park (Newbury) after the Cardiff home game where he was sporting a huge shiner. I said to him that I thought he was playing excellently despite the lack of goals at the time and to ignore the knockers - he would score many before long ('scuse the pun) and be our most important player. He was a genuinely unassuming guy and thanked me for the support. He is one of football's good guys (and RFC is blessed with many due to the way we go about our business) and whatever happens hereon in, I wish Shane the very best. I hope it is with RFC!

+1 and my vote (taking the aforementioned into consideration) too.

In reality, its between Shane and Legs (also bearing in mind, the huffing and puffing, sighing and overtones of resignation, from many on here when his acquisition was first announced)
