rhroyal    No worries as yet.

All I would say is that we have made 3 good signings this week; I'd like to think most STGs are satisfied with the level of reinvestment seen in the squad

You've got to be kidding. Get in £12m. Spend £3m. Do me a favour. Are you SJM in disguise?

2 players out, 4 in for the season (including Khumalo). Wages to consider.

It's not 2 out, 4 in though. Putting the masses of kids to one side because they're irrelevant anyway (inc. Kelly, Hamer and Davies), we've lost three of last season's four centre backs plus one striker. It's four in, four out, plus presumably extra wages for Legs, and certainly extra wages for McAnuff, HRK and Cummings, and a probable wage cut for Gunnarsson.

Man Friday 2 players out, 4 in for the season (including Khumalo). Wages to consider. Then consider accuracy of figures with fees; they're all undisclosed. Add our £4m yearly deficit, spent on players' wages. It makes sound sense to me.

We also had 3 obvious areas to strengthen; LB, CB and ST. Done, with players you would expect to handle this level. Who would you have liked to come into these positions instead?

So, Mills and Long weren't on wages? No wonder they left.

4 players' wages > 2 players' wages. I'd expect Khumalo + Gorkss to be similar to Long and Mills, with Le Fondre and J. Mills on top.

(P.s. Stupid posts like the above make me understand why people resort to insults and terms such as "mong" on here, but I'll resist for now.)[/quote]

That's big of you. Thanks. But don't let me stop you. If my post annoyed you that much then if I were you I'd definitely use the term "mong". (That way we'd get a real insight into your character.)

If the former is correct then whoever did the deal should be shot! Khumalo has the making of another M Williams!

By my estimate, there are about 15 worse teams.

Kish wages same as Khumalo
Gorkss wages same as Mills
Lo Fondre wages less than longs
J Mills wages less than ingimarssons

plus we have saved wages on Kelly, Hamer, Davies, Armstrong, our wage bill is a lot smaller than last seasons

And McAnuff, Cummings and all the young players who have joined / got improved contracts? It probably is smaller, but not by a huge amount. No one or two players, even if they're our top paid ones, will make more than £1m or so difference to the overall wage budget.

FiNeRaIn lol relegation battle. Even I couldn't get away with trolling this obvious.

We are a mid-table team.

i agree, but don't forget we looked a mid-table side the season bullivant took us down. at chirstmas we looked ok, then it all went horribly wrong.

manset our asaba
harte our booty
griffin our swayles
federici our colgan

i still feel we're a mid-table team but even they go down. we need to stop the rott asap, and build some confidence. watford and then donny at home should be 6 points, then everything looks a lot brighter.

Plenty of teams too good to go down do, it's not always the worst teams that drop. Sometimes it's a decent team that just loses it's way completely. Pretty much sums up our last relegation IMO.

I don't think we're going down and I actually still think we'll finish top 10, but that's the thing with the Championship. There are about 16 teams you'd expect to be capable of finishing top 6 and about 16 capable of finishing bottom 6. And obviously quite a lot of them are in both groups.

I'm not sure I'd go as far as that. We were mugged by QPR taking him for Osborn.

it's was a cash plus player deal wasn't it?

as mentioned on the mcdy thread, it's not mcanuff's fault he's not performing. it's our route one style that is cutting out the wingers.

Im looking forward to our 3rd relegation battle on the spin. Come to think of it, it will be our 10th relegation battle since we moved from EP, yet amazingly we've finished in the top half in 12/13 of those seasons, the other being the 2nd best finish in our history.

Here's to more relegation battles.

Most disappointing for me is how McDermot has got the signings of Khumalo and Morrison so wrong.

Morrison was/is one for the future, albeit near future. He was superb for Swindon and young player of the season. He just needs games but most importantly he needs a decent defence alongside him to bring him along. Gorkss is that calming influence.

Bongani is very highly rated so I'd prefer to give him time before judging him as a flop.

Am I in the minority that Morrison looked ok against Charlton? Looks handy on corners.
