For what my opinion is worth I think Seol is what I would call a luxury player.

Other teams have had them like De Canio, Bergkamp and Merson, they were hardly re knowned for getting back, tackling and defending.
(I know he`s not in that class but you get my drift)

He has the ability to score outstanding goals, make goals through his trickery and be a player that opposition players fear because he does the unexpected.

Now I think that has not gone un noticed by the South Korean team manager and Sir Steve.

What you see is a player who can turn a game in an instant.
It is probably no coincidence that his best games for our club where at the beginning of the season.
Then us (The fans) started moaning and groaning, probably causing Seol to lose confidence.

I also realise that we have team of grafters who work their socks off and poor old Seol sticks out like a sore thumb because he is not that sort of player.
Now I think we have room for that sort of player in the team, after all with him in it we are hardly struggling!

woodley royal Coppell pulls the plug in RFC UEFA's hopes, by including Slow Ki-Hyeon into the last few games. Why else play a third rate player that finishes a game with boots so clean, and creates chances for the other team.
I'm so pleased that we have kept in the top half most of the season, but, and a big but, I don't want RFC to suffer more injured players and risk relegation but playing Ki-Hyeon anymore. Coppell needs to unload him in the summer, and they both know it.
zzzzzzzzz try wearing a baseball cap next season...the sun may stay out of your blinkered and blinded eyes.

Far better game from Seol today - actually looked interested and didn't back out of challenges as often whilst also making himself available and tracking back. Took his goal well but I was more pleased to see his all-round game improve - let's hope he can continue to improve as today proved he is capable.

I'd agree with that. The only critisism I had was when Shorey broke forward a few times, Soel didn't try and burst forward and exploit the space to run in to. Instead he slowed up and we had to play the ball inside rather than get a cross in.
But he has been a lot better of late. We just need to get that work rate up and keep it there!

Still on the final game of the season in what should have been a celebration of our achievements this season regardless of Europe, we still have mugs who follow our side who will criticise Seol at any given opportunity.

On reflection, Seol had a great start at Reading, poor mid season before a decent finish to the season. His goal return of 4 is good at this level, and it would be nice to think he'll be cut some slack, but given our club's history with individual targets for the boo boys then it seems highly unlikely. He's still the best 2 footed player at the club and will be crucial to us next year if Oster leaves as I suspect.

I think he's a firm ground horse - plays well when the pitches are in good nick and the sun is in his face - struggles in boggy pithces at the turn of the year.....

Interestingly enough, Seol has scored as many league goals as a certain £30 million striker playing in South West London.

and many more than blakey, harper, convey, long, shorey, etc

glad he turned his midseason around, finished off well.
just to stick it to the boo boys

Very true, but yet again he was guilty of not tracking the full back for the 2nd goal. Still if Coppell can install in him the right attitude, there is no doubt he has the ability to succeed.

I fear next year will follow this years pattern.

Can people please confirm that the goal Seol scored on Sunday was a direct result of the motivational booing advocated by so many great minds on this forum?

thanks..

FFS!! Possibly the worst pass by a Reading player this season was the cause of the second goal. It beggars belief that Shorey does not get a mention but Seol is to blame yet again

Behindu Seol has featured in the last 5 games, we've won 3 and lost 2.

In the 5 games previous to that he featured in 1 and we lost 4 and drew 1.

I see your point !

Now name the teams we have played.

They are on the OS if you can't remember....

Doesn't affect the results though so I'm not sure why you need to know.

I thought Seol had a pretty good game but faded badly at the end. Harper was shouting and waving at him to track back and cover, but he just looked knackered.

Apparently Seol has been playing with an ankle injury for most of the season. Might explain why he hasn't been enthuastic as Hunt has been.

But then again, some tossers on here won't accept this as an excuse.

cmonurz Seol reminds me a lot of Tony Rougier. Absolutely bucketfuls of talent (Rouge was the best dribbler of a footballer I have seen at this club) but wasted by their playing style.

Is this either a whoooooosh or a fishing trip?

I must have missed the Rouge's obvious talents in an alcoholic haze that lasted most of the 90's
