Hoop Blah
Royal Rother
Hoop Blah From the bits I saw of him, including that hilarious miss two yards out infront of an open goal, he didn't look great. If he gets close to a start I'll be amazed.

Missing an open goal from 2 yards out with the ball on the ground at his feet didn't stop people thinking Lita was a great striker.

Didn't stop Les Ferdinand having a pretty good career either!

I wouldn't write him off on the back on one passage of play or one glaring miss, but I'd still be surprised if he makes the grade here.

I still believe that Sir Les managed to miss from MUCH closer than two yards. Surely the ball was already over the line ?

I was so busy celebrating that I couldn't understand why it had been disallowed. I couldn't believe it hadn't gone in.

IF Brendan can take the best of Kebe (which is utterly brilliant) and improve his end product he will be awesome

AthleticoSpizz Sorry.......clean slate ..and all that................. next season

But Matty has a lot to do to win the title of this very thread's question.

It was all said about him last season, for and against.

Signed as a premier Midfielder

Struggled to get a start as a Championship one.

I hope he's cheap

Disagree he has a lot do. Its evident from his performances he is the best passer of the ball, has a fantastic shot from long range, intelligent player and very creative. He is also a poor tackler and not the strongest either. This description is almost identical to paul scholes who we all know is best playing in the hole behind the strikers. When scholes was moved to a more central role for man utd his performances detiriated last season and you could argue when matejovsky is playing in the middle with harps or whoever his performances have been hit and miss. All matejovsky needs to do is be played in the right position, just behind the front two or lone striker. Petr Cech even said this to BR before he joined about matty saying he's deadly in the right position. Also matejovsky was injured for half the season and when he did come in we were up against teams with a 5 man midfield who had sussed us out.

You won't find many people on here who agree with that, but.......

When he is on it, like at Norwich last season, he is unplayable. If Brendan can sort him out, we'll have some player on our hands.

What bit of Kebe is 'utterly brilliant'? He has pace, that's about it. :|

has a bit more than that
his ability to produce it throughout a single match, let alone across a whole season is whats in doubt IMO

Give Deathy some credit. I'm sure there are some good qualities deep down in him. We just haven't seen them yet.

Oi, watch it bitch!

Please Winchester, enlighten me to the qualities of Jimmy Kebe?

Occasionally I saw fantastic pace and a good cross, quick feet too. But more often than not I saw someone confuse himself with where the ball was, and where it had gone, giving the ball away left right and centre, unable to put his foot in and tackle, and his crossing was so inconsistent it made Michael Gilkes' crosses look Beckham-esq.

James Henry is ahead of him IMO. Much better balance of all the above attributes. Kebe has the ability, but he needs an awful lot of work.

Did you see the run he made and the goal he made at Cardiff last season. Absolutely fantastic.

How good Henry may be is irrelevant IMO when we talk about Jimmy Kebe. He is best at LW and that's where he should be played next season.

You also proved my point in your second paragraph. The problem with Kebe is not natural talent, which he has in abundance, but consistency. Now given that Rodgers apparently worked miracles with McAnuff last season, I would say that if anyone could consistently extract the best out of Kebe I'd say it would be Rodgers.

One moment? Did you see when Federici scored? Doesn't mean we're gonna put him up front. Another fantastic post by The Hob Nob stat geek.

No, Jay isn't. Really. Kebe can be a good player, he has the ability to run at the defender and change direction with his quick feet, you know the move left foot forward, kick the ball with his right foot to his left side under his leg. Unfortunately, if he does it so often the defender can read and antipicate his move. That's probably where he loses the ball. Or f*cks it up by trying something different.

Kebe's problem is that his body can't keep up with what his mind is visualising or vice versa. Either that or or forgets that the ball is an intrinsic part of his clever moves. Watching him is exciting but not always for the right reasons. Me I am looking forward to seeing Church have regular run in the first team.

^^^^^ this. It's about time we had a true ball winning box-to-box midfielder in our midfield again after two whole years without one, and I am looking forward to seeing how far he progresses under a supposedly brilliant coach.
