Whitehead vs. Peterborough 01/02, the flapped free kick that ended up flying over his head and into the net.

And vs. Notts County same season (i think), cross comes in, Forster gets a head on it and it loops over the keeper but hits the bar, only to get deflected back on to the keeper's arse (who is mid-dive) then deflected back into the net as a result.

I remember a match at EP in the 80's against Swindon at home when both keepers scored own goals. Both were quite simaler in that they punched the ball in to the net from crosses. I think it was Alan Judge for us in goal?

Only one I can recall seeing live was the Cole-Essien goal.

Mr Optimist Franchise you mentioned a 5-2 game. I'm certain that was Barnsley away midweek in the late 80s Div 2 relegation season. We were 2-0 up and on the supporters coach. Arrived just in time to see their first goal go in followed by the next four. On a big open terrace at Oakwell and it was bloody freezing!

I was on the coach of doom that night. As usual in those days the only "joy" we had was to piss off the old farts at the front of the coach by singing, we know a song that'll get on your nerves, for at least half the journey back, crazy days.

Shit! I was on that coach as well!

Watch out - on the basis of those that were in the lowest ever crowd and at the 'Friday Goal' game, there'll be 2-300 that were on that coach with us.

bassavage Rougier o.g. v Walsall 2001 Play-off Final.

Seem to remember goal at Grimsby in 2002/2003 where their player scored an o.g. from near the half-way line. Anyone who went can they back me up?

Henderson and defender went for 50:50 ball around halfway line?

Yeah it was a block tackle 40 odd yards out.

One comical goal (not an own goal) was Andy Hughes scoring the winner against QPR back in the day. Seem to remember him missing the ball completely only for it to hit his standing leg and dribble in the corner.

Mid Sussex Royal Anyone remember Mark White's own goal against I think Hartlepool (1977/78?).

Freezing day and bone hard pitch - he hit a back pass from somewhere near the half way line and it bounced over Steve Death's head.

Remember it well, and I think we lost 3-2 as well.

Also recall Gary Peters doing something similar at Chesterfield but at the right end. Lashed what appeared to be just a clearance from around halfway which swirled in the wind and dropped over their keepers head. We went on to win 4-3 I think after being a couple of goals down.

I think that was 4-2 and the day that at half-time we were sat in the stands contemplating the fact that we were about to be relegated as we were 2-0 down.

Survived courtesy of Stuart Beavon (and the rest of the team, obviously) and the second half comeback

Wasn't comical at the time but the goal vs Brighton where Hahnemann booted it away in frustration at a backpass being ruled - straight to Paul Brooker to put the ball down, take a quick free kick for Zamora to score :|

Another Hahnemann one was vs Gillingham when he rushed out to meet a looped up through ball and it went straight through his legs for Marlon King to score. Must've been about 03/04

Was that the game when we were 4 - 0 down and reduced to 10 men after about 20 minutes?

Is that the game where Andy Hughes was clean through on Hahnemann and placed the ball perfectly past the advancing keeper

Last season - low cross that both Hahnemann and Ingi(?) went for, then left, then stood watching as it trickled into the net.

Maguire
bigshaka'away' Well any by Frank Sinclair as stated...

But im sure Raymond Van Der Kwack scored a peach (although thinking about it im not sure he touched it) when he swung and missed away to Wrexham...i have looked on Youtube but cannot find a thing....Anybody else remember this??? im sure we went on to lose.

Back pass that was missed and went in IIRC.

Lost 3-0 first day of the season.

Yes. And it was Mass Sarr's first appearance, coming off the bench to get the ball in the corner and manage to flick it over the defender before running around him. Class.

Any goal scored from a free-kick after using Rock-Paper-Scissors to decide who'd take it.
