Simon's Church I wonder who has made the decision to sell holsgrove. Bowen before he left? Has paunovich seen enough already, or is the owner happy to sell anyone he doesn't see as being a 'name'?

Impression I have currently is that it's not quite a done deal. Jordan is talking to Vigo about joining their B team. From the artice below I think it's on loan but with a view to becoming permanent next summer.

If anyone actually speaks good Spanish perhaps they can translate the article at the link below into proper English rather than using google's "pidgen-spanish".

Not a surprise sadly. Quinton Fortune will take over Eddie's role and I think Marko Mitrović (NOT the Swedish one) is also due to join the coaching staff, presume John O'Shea will remain though.

Indeed, I wonder if Niedzewiecki will be setting some kind of record for longest gap between managing games at a club !
No idea if swapping him for Fortune is a good or bad thing but I’m guessing we’ll be well placed to get a couple of good United youngsters on loan....

Wrong way round, Fortune to join coaching staff and Mitrović as assistant manager

These predictions can be laughably inaccurate.
Currently I think anyone predicting anything for us is doing it entirely on guess work....

"Pundits" normally put us down the bottom somewhere, just seems fashionable.

Would be interested to see where the pundits predicted us to finish in the 05/06 season. Didn't that fat fcuk The Moose from Talksport predict relegation for us the season we got in the playoff final?

We’ve finished 20th in two of our last three seasons so we shouldn’t rule out that possibility.

I’m optimistic, but we do have a small squad with very little depth in some positions (left wing for example). We have less than 15 outfield players who are proven at this level including Aluko, Olise and McIntyre. So I can understand why fans of other clubs would think 20th is about right.

To reply to all of the above they said something along the lines of "half the squad looks capable of a play off push, the other half looks ready for a bottom half push".

I mean, thats fair and all but it describes most teams.

It does feel like guess work and they did say that these predictions could be nonsense given the window having another month to go but 20th seems awful low. At worst I though 16th for us.

Yeah, but probably not by much.

From an outside perspective we're a team that finished badly and have been down there consistently. We've just released about 12 players and brought one in from the lower leagues and we've sacked our manager on the eve of the new season and replaced him with a guy with a spotty record and no English experience. Plus it's known we have financial problems.

It's not hard to see why someone would tip us to struggle.

I'd like to think Luton, Wycombe, Rotherham, Coventry and Barnsley plus Wednesday would fair worse but I think we easily fit in the next tier up of your Birminghams etc.

I mean, I agree not by much but I thought we were really more part of the 10-16th block. If all we have to do is beat 20th then that should be a piece of piss.

NTT20 has us at 18th. Main argument seems to be that we are a shambles of a club but also that it is hard to predict us as we are leaving business late again.

One of them did say he thinks Reading fans overestimate how good our players are then followed that up with "Swift is one of the best playmakers in the league and Joao, McIntyre, Rinomhota and Olise are all good players".. Oh and that Ejaria has the potential to be the best player in the league...

So who the oxf*rd knows eh? No mention of Rafael, a keeper they said last year was one of the best in the league seemed odd.

I agree...they didn’t seem biased against us (unlike Not The Top 20) and raised some very valid points. This is the outside view across the league & it’s due to the instability we have. I’d place us a couple of places higher but no more.

Can’t really expect a manager with no English football experience to come and work wonders straight away

Even if we have people with huge amounts of English football experience working with him ?

The first bit is all well and good but the second bit?? There is surely plenty of examples.

at this stage anyone with any sense would put us bottom 3rd

it depends massively on who we bring in - what quality they are, whether they add or destabilise etc. And also if the unknown boss is actually any good or just a shambles waiting to happen

If it was still Bowen in charge, adding a few solid champ players, I'd have said about 12th would be reasonable

I dont think anyone with any sense would say bottom 3. The squad alone can string together enough results to keep us out comfortably.
