andrew1957 Devon live is confirming that Exeter paid compensation for Wareham and local London news said a couple of days ago that QPR were negotiating a fee for Mbengue. Does anyone have an idea of likely amounts involved?

“Development fees” as both players were offered new deals (Wareham is from the Academy while Mbengue is under 24). Not going to amount to a great deal but it all helps.

Presume that both WiFi and Wendy (Craig) were offered deals that might be signed rather than ones which wouldn’t be unless desperate.

Brogue Right so the wareham mystery is solved. We apprently only offered him a contract so we could get compensation. We offered a really shit contract knowing he wouldn’t sign it. Which was better than releasing him on a free. He was deemed by hunt, as surplus to requirements.

To get comp, we will have had to offer him at least what he was on last year - if you offer less, you get no comp. So it probably wouldn't be hard for Exeter to have offered more or a longer deal.

Mbengue feels like a big loss - a key part of the squad both on and off pitch. We tried to keep and he decided to take a different challenge.

Wareham never felt like he was quite good enough, bet he scores against us next season.

So with the need to recruit from mainly Free Transfers and the need for pretty Much a complete 11 of new players other than maybe CM which I will give a couple of options and GK which I will not as I don't think we will sign another. here is a free transfer / OOC soon 11 below of potential targets (minus the GK) that I think we could and should be targeting.

LB George Cox (Swindon)
RB Steven Sessegnon (Wigan)
CB Donovon Pines (Barnsley)
CB Zac Williams (Crewe)
CM Will Collar (Stockport)
CM Ayman Benarous (Brizzle) I know lots of injuries but always regarded as high potential.
CM Andy Rinhomota (Cardiff) also as utility
RW Lynden Gooch (Stoke)
LW Josh Koroma (Huddersfield)
CF Michael Obafemi (Burnley)

Also would have Meite back in place of Gooch which I think maybe beyond us.

Really not fussed about players going elsewhere, even Mbengue. I did say earlier, either on here or twitter, can't remember where, that Mbengue would be foolish to turn down a Championship club and there we have it.

There are always plenty of players of top L1 quality for free in the Summer window and you can finish up the squad by making good use of the loan market, something we haven't been able to do recently because of Dai.

Still whilst we are waiting and constantly checking for news it does give me the chance to wonder whether CScott or Rupert Lowe are the worst thing on Twitter. It’s a pretty close run thing

Surprised to see Garcia still here thought he would be the first out the door.

Definitely gonna start muting a lot of annoying Reading fans on Twitter, I did start following a bunch back recently but immediately unfollowed one who was just constantly retweeting all the negative tweets.

FFS already bored with the James Earnshaw's love in with Mbengue. Just because he feels they started a drunk bromance I would rather he just reported facts.
He will kiss the nearest badge and take the money, most of us would.
Think his new nickname should be Whopper!

There has been a lot of talk about recruiting the right characters for the club, especially around the dressing room, which makes sense

That's fine but we don't want to be too nice on the pitch and become a soft touch to play against

Who have we currently got, or who is there available out there, with a bit of steel and knowledge of the dark arts, a big old lump as it were?

O'Connor seems to be a bit of a card magnet so assume he puts it about a bit

I don’t think good characters in the dressing room means soft on the pitch tbh, maybe the opposite. O Connor as you mention. Clarke certainly wasn’t soft when he played

This exactly. Yids was always seen as a very positive figure in the dressing room, and one of crunchingest of tacklers we've had in years

We need another centre back, one with a bit of pace, and need to decide which of the youngsters is able to make it so they can cover O'Connor when he's suspended.

Surely the latter is unimportant right now. It'll be whoever is doing well intraining and youth cup games.
