Saaaaaaaammmmmm Interesting Stat: https://twitter.com/oilysailor/statuses/266237386458021889

@oilysailor: Most penalties in English league since Aug 2009: Reading 35, Crystal Palace 29, Man Utd 28, Chelsea 28, Southampton 27.

There's only one Shane Long.

What % did we score from?

Evened out a bit for us today. 3 penalty calls in our favor and a great save from the woodwork too.

So far this season:
1 point dropped away to Chelsea- Torres not given offside
2 points dropped home to Newcastle- Ba handball
Knocked out of the League Cup- Hunt penalty not given, full time whistle not blown
1 point gained away to QPR- QPR denied penalty after a push from Morrison
2 points gained at home to Everton- penalty not given despite blatant foul by Gorkss (Gorkss lucky to stay on the pitch as he was booked on another occasion)

So if we stay in the FA Cup due to two dodgy decisions, we are level.

Medusa? Apparently the Newcastle fans are comforting themselves with this handball being the reward for a Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (?sp) handball given against them several years ago. Memories are longer than just one season either way.

We should comfort ourselves with the knowledge that this evens out Robin Friday's punched goal in 1975 - and RF's was deliberate, Ba's ..... er, debatable

Errrrrr, 3 penalty calls in our favour ?

Shirley only two - even the most one-eyed Toffee would not suggest that our pen was anything other than a pen

And then they have to score them. As I said before, I don't think pens comes into the equation (unless the penalty call is blatantly a wrong decision). There's always gonna be pen calls, pretty much every match. If the ref is unsure then it won't get given, simples. For me, this thread is all about officials decisions that have either cost us or benefited us.

For me, we are still -3 points

Last season we had more than our fair share of luck - so if it does even itself out it doesn't do it in just one season.

SpaceCruiser And the two penalties we were denied against Tottenham.

That's 5 points the referees have cost us so far this season.

Only one penalty, blatant hanball. Tottenham should have crucified us even more than 3-1 score. :D

1 point dropped away to Chelsea- Torres not given offside
2 points dropped home to Newcastle- Ba handball
1 point dropped away to Southampton- penalty not given for foul on Tabb
3 points dropped away to Man City- Barry goal given despite clear foul, penalty not given for handball

Neutral- Wigan (Di Santo goal incorrectly disallowed, penalty not given for foul on Tabb), Aston Villa (Benteke goal stood, penalty not given for foul by Mariappa), Man United (Van Persie goal crossed the line, penalty not given)

It started off roughly evening out, but over the last few weeks we haven't had any points to take away. We are now "owed" four points. In such a world, we'd be one point above QPR and ahead of Southampton on goal difference. Of course, we have no way of telling whether Chelsea would have got a goal from somewhere else, or whether Man City would have pushed harder after the penalty decision.

For the last time - IT WASN'T A PENALTY.

It was right in front of me and it was a blatant dive. Naismith was very sheepish when he got up.

Can I add the the fact that whilst winning in the League Cup against the Arsenal scumbags, Koscielny, whilst on a yellow, bought down Roberts from behind whilst he was bearing down on goal. No card given and the rest is history. We really have had sh*t luck. I think Wigan and us really must be hated by PL refs and linos.

Based on this weekend we deserve to be higher, but Chelsea would deserve to be champions of the world winning 8-0, Liverpool would be back in the Champions League winning 4-0 and Man Utd and Swansea would be equal. As it happens, none are true because its about performances over a season.

Yes we've had some good games, but losses to Wigan, Villa, Saints and Sunderland clearly show we are where we are for a reason. Not good enough.

If we'd taken our chances and defended better then we wouldn't be relying on refereeing decisions.

Point. Missed.
