No Fixed Abode
Hoop Blah
No Fixed Abode Don't forget to add the wages of Kerm and or Rakels who were brought in.

Pretty sure the wages for those two will be less than the wages for Sa and Blackman so that's another win.

For the record, I'd be gutted if we brought Blackman back.

We're talking about Blackman and whether that was good business to sell him. Sa's wages has nothing to do with it.

How on earth can you say that when you mentioned adding the wages of Kerm and Rakels? You can't compare the one and not the other just to strengthen your own argument. Either leave this as a pure Nick Blackman thing or take the other player's wages into consideration.

You've misquoted what I said. I said Kerm and OR Rakels. Meaning the wages of whichever one replaced Blackman.

Does it make any difference?

Well yes.

If you sell a player for £4m and he's on 20k a week
and then you bring in a replacement who costs in the region of 500k and is on 25k a week
you have to offset that expense. It wasn't like Reading sold Blackman and didn't re-invest some back into the team.
Coupled with the fact of dwindling attendances with reduced match day revenue and an even worse run of form under BM.

So the point here is - was selling Blackman actually that good a deal in hindsight? It's certainly not as great as some people are making out.

If we'd hung on to him then he'd have left for nothing at the end of the season, we'd still have paid his wages, we'd still have needed to sign Rakells and Kermogant (and paid their wages ).
So we're well up in the deal.
Whether a person who's sole aim is to provoke a reaction thinks differently is a bit irrelevant.

I'll humour you. Disregarding the fact you've got no idea how much each player is actually on and what the transfer fees are in reality -

£20,000 a week for 6 months = £520,000
£25,000 a week for 6 months = £650,000

Take Kermorgant's and Blackman's transfer fees and difference in wages we have received £4,000,000 and reinvested £630,000.

Since the move:
Blackman Apps 17 Goals 0
Kermorgant Apps 17 Goals 3

So we are £3,370,000 and 3 goals better off. That's not good business?

Where does Rakels being on more wages than Blackman even come from??

I love how Kes keeps banging on about falling attendances. As has been stated in several unrelated arguments (Bayern season tickets price, Premier League ticket prices etc) fans ticket contribution is very minimal to the finances of the club, so any drop in attendance will be negligible to the £4 million received for Blackman. And that's assuming our non-firing ex striker would have even done anything remotely useful to affect attendances.

So yes Kes, selling Blackman was CATEGORICALLY a good deal. I don't get why this is such a struggle.

I doubt it. Last season (2015-16) they gave out these free grand-kid STs

I bought my ST, an 18-24 ST for my daughter and a grandkid freebie
and went to every game on my own! (but counted as three attendees)

Wink back.

How many grandchild Sts were handed out? Any idea? I'd've though at least a thousand

I'm not disputing the official figures, just saying they have always been false and now they are more false

But you bought 2 tickets and it is revenue that is important here.

I am perfectly well aware that the club posts attendance figures that include all sold tickets
but that is a mispresentation of ATTENDANCE

Nah, Snowball bought the second ST so there would be someone on hand to help him move the goalposts.

I am sure that many wouldn't have bought a full price season ticket had it not been for the offer, which means the offer probably increased the club's revenue. Which as Nameless said is what was actually being discussed.
