I watched on my second screen at work, I thought we did alright for the first half. I have little worry about a good 5-6 of them stepping in to do a job if required this season, hopefully some will show that ability to play above league one level.

But it is another defeat and I expect another vs Swansea. Just hope it doesn't impact how we start the league campaign.

I echo what I said about our defence though. We are in need of experience there. We also need a new goalie. I can see us conceding 3+ goals quite a bit, especially on the road without adding a decent centre back and keeper.

Hi Jimmy, agree regarding the defeat, however Saints, QPR and Swansea are all above us in the league and in our current predicament (Although rapidly improving) we seem to be taking significant steps in the right direction!! However, you do sometimes think who is picking these friendly games? we've not won a game in 5 months and you go and arrange your friendly games against superior quality teams!! I would prefer to go into the season with a winning mentality!!

Agree regarding the Center backs, i would be inclined to let both Holmes and McIntyre go!! they have been with a team on the downward spiral for a while and maybe that losing mentality has got stuck in their heads.
I actually think Andresson could do a good job given a run of games in the first team and as experience goes he's not far behind the guy who left for Cheltenham.

Higher quality yes but we also lost to Wimbledon and Sutton who are league two.

Did you see the sides we put out in those games, they will have zero bearing on how our season pans out - the season is impossible to get a handle on as none of us have the first idea of what the team will look like come Sept 1st.

For example, if the rumour on here from yesterday is true that new investment is close, we may suddenly be able to pay fees and bring in players that currently are way out of our budget, or we may suddenly find ourselves back in an embargo and have to go with what we have. Two very different seasons would then play out.

Holmes and TMac probably both regretting signing multi-year contracts (without relegation clauses presumably).

Personally think Holmes is better than TMac. TMac comes across as being not the brightest button in the box and think that shows in the way he plays

Watched the game, both goals came from full backs not being present, 1st half came from nobody being near Adomah who had forever to measure a cross. Second came after right full back (30 carlon?) jumped into challenge and QPR attacker also had an age to put a cross to back post which you'd expect 2 CB's not to be defending they need to push across to the right.

Overall some promise in our youth, our goalkeepers were the busier and QPR should have a couple more. Didn't create really good chances, a few shots from unlikely opportunities a few headers from corners. Was expecting to see a high press not really evident and felt similar style to the last couple of seasons.

Still hopeful with a few more signings and bit more time on the training ground we can mount a playoff push

I'd have said the opposite to be honest. Holmes is much more reliable an option though.

Holmes is definitely the smarter of the two, if he wasn't a footballer he'd have no trouble getting a degree (and at one stage he was considering giving up in order to go that way). His dad is a professor of engineering at Imperial, Tom's not on that level by any means but he's bright. McIntyre is a little more media polished and more extroverted. He's not stupid, did reasonably well at school as I understand it, and would probably have muddled through university... but he does do some stupid things. He is also more "football mad" and would probably have still tried to go pro if he was only on non-league wages.
