Froomes Ian Royal Froomes Well that approach has worked wonders with 3 of our last 4 managers....

Bizarre to roll your eyes at that.
Worked fine with McDermott, I don't see how Clarke qualifies. Rodgers has proved he's a good manager, just a case of wrong time for him. Adkins has proved he's a good manager, lots of behind the scenes problems and nothing guarantees you anything. It certainly worked with Coppell, Pardew and McDermott.
Is that the same McDermott you continually bemoan?
Clarke qualifies due to playing for Chelsea and managing at a higher level, both criteria you specified! (see above)
Adkins was at the helm as we were relegated from the premier league and then resided over the worst Reading performances since Burns and was on course to relegate us from the championship.
Rodgers would have definitely got us relegated had we not sacked him.
So all in all I think

is perfectly apt for your management criteria wish list.
I'm not sure how you can say playing for Chelsea qualifies someone for having playing experience in the Championship.
I'm perfectly happy that McDermott did an excellent job in the Championship. I wasn't keen on his style of play and was perfectly open about that the entire time. I just don't think he was good enough, or even did as much as he could have, in the PL and I'm far from the only one. I don't think it's a good idea to go back to him, mainly because it could taint his excellent reputation here, partly because I don't think he'd suit the players we have and partly because I don't think he can really build a team capable of having a good chance in the PL.
Adkins was doing enough (just) to keep us up, and took us to a whisker from the play offs the previous season, without being able to do any strengthening in the January transfer window because of oxf*rd finances and whilst dealing with an injury crisis. I appreciate he didn't do a good job and I'm in a minority on him.
Rodgers, would probably have gotten us relegated. But he's proved elsewhere he's a good manager. Wrong man wrong time. It doesn't matter how good your choices are, it doesn't work out all the time.
Given your rolling eyes, why don't you explain what a much better way of picking a manager is other than someone who knows our club well, or has strong experience in the division we play in?
