Hoop Blah
brendywendy
touch, vision and passing ability far beyond Kebe's.

look, id love to see james cement a place here as much as anyone
but thats rubbish

Not in my opinion it isn't.

Kebe has his own qualities, his pace and ability to get passed defenders with it and a few body swerves and the odd change of direction, but Henry's passing and vision are way beyond Kebe's from what I've seen of both players (I've watched a fair bit of the Reserves over the years too).

Kebe's general touch is pretty average at best too. I know he has show some excellent touches this season (before a barrage of 'didn't you see him control Federici's goal kick against whoever it was' posts) but consistently his touch see's him lose the ball. It also see's him beat his man on a occassions too, but it's a bit too hit and miss for my liking. I also include keeping the ball under control whilst trying to run, dribbling, cross or pass the ball as 'touch' by the way.

I agree with what you're saying, Hoop Blah.

brendy, I like Kebe as much as the next person, though I won't be applying to join his fan club. He has shown good vision occaisionally, but that simply isn't one of his strengths- it is for Henry. Same for touch and passing.

im not saying kebe is god-though he is
and im not saying hes a great player-hes merely good, and then sporadically
but right now i just dont think henrys ready, seems to have quiet games in the league when hes started(and hes had a few chances) and certainly not done anything in the attcking third compared to kebe when hes been on.
personally im happy to see kebethere with henry getting games and playing himself into form elsewhere
but i see what youre both saying

I agree that Henry has looked a bit lacking at times in his fleeting opportunities so far, but so has Kebe many times.

As for Henry not doing anything in the attacking third compared to Kebe...against Birmingham he was very creative, getting some good balls into the box as well as creating opportunities for team mates to do likewise. Against Norwich he came on and, along with Long, turned a draw into a win.

Even though I don't rate Kebe (although I'll admit we missed him at home to Norwich and Cardiff, but against Birmingham Henry more than filled in) I'm not sure I'd start Henry over him at the moment, but I'd certainly have given him a bit more of a chance than Coppell has, especially considering Kebe's performances at times.

i guess he sees it as more valuable to get 1st team games, than sitting here on the bench

and id forgotten the brum game-where he was more than decent, and another sub appearance where he and long made a big impact together
so hes definitely getting there, perhaps a few more nothing games from kebe could see him recalled

Just thought it would be worth a punt posting Henry's goal again

http://www.football.virginmedia.com/pag ... Id=3644371

And wondering if Kebe would ever have the guts to even strike from that distance...

to be fair, 9/10 times it would end up in the stand from either player.

but a great finish, like an arrow, and great movement and strength to create the space for him to shoot.
its quality

I'd have no problem with Kebe if he could cross at head-height.
His usual tactic is to get to the by-line and put in a low cross, rather than stay around the edge of the box and put in a head-height cross.
:? Still, a Reading player, selected by Coppell, I have no problem with him starting.

It really is time to give this one trick lame pony a rest.

Can someone please explain to him that when he has cut inside a defender there is no way that defender is going to stop him without committing a foul. So why the hell does he persist in trying to cut back out again only to trip over his feet or run straight into the defender he has just gone past!!

And why when Duberry has set him free with a great ball and plenty of space outside and behind the covering full back does he just hit a first time cross straight at the defender?! For god's sake get around the back and pull back a decent cross into the danger area - simple basic wing play and if Coppell can't get that message through to him then we really are in a mess!!

Our most likely looking today. Which really does say it all. He had all the room in the world on that right flank at times, final ball dire. Does make you wonder whether opposition manager say to their teams, Kebe won't hurt you, no need to mark him tightly.

I particularly enjoyed in the second half his attempted cross in the south-west corner of the pitch where he shanked it totally and it flew high into the South Stand  . WoefuLOL.

I have defended Kebe & said he would make into a good player at the start of this fred, I take it all back. He has all the assets but is clueless in the final third.

He nearly outdid shunt in claiming for the free kicks today, everytime the opposition got near him he claimed he was fouled....

I admit it, nice pacey player but he relies too much on confidence to perform. Only good when we are 3 goals up.

Cheers Jimmy.

Coppell stated the bleeding obvious after today's game when he said that this Championship campaign wasn't the same as last time around.

Well here's something equally bleeding obvious that he seems to have missed. This time we have Kebe trying to do the job performed last time around by an in-form and fit Glen Little and S Hunt trying to to the same in the place on an on-song Convey! Spot the difference?!!

Kebe beat the FB for fun first half and made at least 4 excellent cut backs
one of which Lita should have scored from. In the whole of the game he
was the assist for four on target strikes.

Yeah he screwed up a few too

The one run where he cut back into Lita looked like Lita was ready for the earlier cross. Kebe cut back in and the moment and possibly Litas timing for the cross was lost. That sadly finished up as a lamer shot on target than Lita had hoped for.

Ok ok before you idiots go and blame Kebe, take a good look and S Hunt today. The bloke was non-existant. Kebe at least made some good runs with the ball.
