Kebe's season was summed up in that 90minutes absolutely perfectly.

Half atrocious

Half unplayable.

'greed, consistently inconsistent

Unlike these two?

Cosistent inconsistency = excitement and more elation when it does work out!

A player who has all the attributes to perform at the top level but has yet to put it together on a regular basis.......................if and when that days arrives, some of his critics are going to look rather silly.

It can surely be no coincidence that such a skillful player had one of his best games of the season on a decent pitch rather than the allotment just missing some cabbages that we play on at home.

But if he was consistently consistent there's no way he'd be playing for Reading - we'd never be able to afford him.

So we need to be thankful for the fact that he seems to be getting more consistent, and the fact that the fear of what he is capable of doing will make sure defenders pay him extra attention and leave space for others to exploit. You can be sure the Brum defenders will be watching videos of his crosseses onto Long's head yesterday, and not those from previous matches that sailed into Row Z.

I'm not going to pretend that Kebe has had a stunning season, he's had some seriously lame games (along with half his fellow Reading players it has to be said) but having witnessed the vitriol of some oxf*rd in the Reading crowd towards him, I feel duty bound to defend him. Some classic examples of the abuse against him that I have personally heard:

1) cheering when he's been injured
2) shouting "get him off" within about the first ten minutes of the game. Yep great idea
3) shouting "don't pass to him" when he is wide, in plenty of space, and offer the best chance of attack

Inconsistent, yes, but has talent and offers some of our best attacking opportunities. With SUPPORT, he can only improve. I just hope the same idiots who hounded John Oster game after game don't drive Kebe away.

+1

Because, of course, he has shown what he can do. That fact that he doesn't consistently shows that it's not that he doesn't have the talent, but instead it's a mental thing. The more he is the more consistent he will be, so every single prejudiced jibe about him (or any other player, of course) only serves to dent that confidence and decrease his chances of suceeding.

For me Kee-b (as pronounced by the Norwich PA last night  ) is the fastest player I have seen in a Reading shirt for a longtime...

The problem is he only really uses that pace in the following circumstances:

1) if he gets the ball within a minute of kick-off
2) he beats the man at the first attempt without being kicked
3) when he plays on the left and he has the bench being able to talk him through the game

He loses interest in games quicker than Bikey...

Ostemoboor is quick yet he was made to look slow when Kee-b put the full gas on a few times last night...he just needs to do it more often...I would rather he did the same as Gilkes...hammer it down the wing and then run out of space...than dilly dally with it and then have 2 players take the ball off him easily and he just stands and shrugs...

Simple task should be...get ball...run at pace...beat the man...then do the step over if needed...put cross in box...simple as that Jimmy...if he did that or looked to do that 5 - 10 times in a match and guarantee an end product...we would not be discussing whether he is a good player or simply an enigma...

with mercurial players such as this its daft to hound him every time he cocks it up, or fails to deliver a ball into the box
even if he only converts from 10 percent of his time on the ball, hell be having a good game and causing the opposition massive heart attacks

im prettty sure if you watch the whole games, instead of just clips, even pele lost the ball a few times

Maintains frustration at a player with massive potential who ultimately hasn't lived up to it this season.

Sometimes he's been awful(oops  meant awesome  ), but too often he's been too poor at producing a final ball.

It would be much easier to take if he just went missing a lot, or had games where he didn't create a lot. The problem is almost every game he is involved in potentially great chances and fecks up about as many as he gets in well. And when he fecks them up boy does he do it spectacularly.

Ian you dont go to the games mate you wouldnt know

kebe does great work that you certainly wont hear about on the radio or reading on here same for players like Marek

makes me laugh how now most of you are holding onto him being an in and out player, i thought as others have said he was "the worst player ever to put on a reading shirt" "terrible" etc

just admit you were wrong "up or down" what the oxf*rd ever he is a good player

end of thread

West Stand Man

As your opinion is clearly utter rubbish I'll not bother with taking any notice of it.

a number of classics on this thread but i may as well begin with that one

Kebe is a good player and you are going to see performances like that all season, some of the people on this site need to form an opinion themselves instead of following others

Notable mentions so far

Joe999 - this guy is comedy gold on here “hes absolute oxf*rd”

Alan Patridge “Nah it's ok, you can't help but LOL when Kebe gets the ball. We need a laugh if nothing else this season.”

Fine rain “Why is he wearing a reading shirt? The guy is an absolute joke.”

Chilitspill “A hearty LOL at this thread” hearty indeed

Cmonurz “I am signing in because I do not think Jimmy Kebe is a good player.
Thanks.” Noooo thank you , awww it’s the taking part that counts

Scarface “Where are all the RTG's that thought Kebe was going to be good this season, based on a few good friendly performances ?"
What were you basing your opinion on?

Smokingkills dancing doe “What a terrible player.”

Trev “In answer to the question, Jimmy Kebe is a good player............NOT!" lol see what you did there trev classic mate go on tour

Howser = mocking faces etc

Yes yes its one game but he showed he had the skills…… I think you all realise he is going to be a great player for us this season (at least I hope you do)

Brilliant, he put two decent crosses in in one game. Let's see if he's not shit against Birmingham and in the playoffs.
