The defence had one of their worst games in quite some time. Khivishnili was pretty shocking all in and poor Harte, he was made to look a bit silly. Cant be arsed to work out ratings for them all.

A bit harsh, I thought we played our usual game - it's just the quality of the opposition that exposed our flaws.

The flaws I believe we have, based on the season not just today are:

Wingers trying to run past one player too many when they could pass or hold up the ball.
The team not going to help out by giving options when one of our players is run into a dead end on the touchline.
Zurab Khizanishvili's rash tackling, temperament and occasional casual passing
Players passing the ball too quickly/giving it away when at times it's better to hold it and find a Reading player to pass it to, particularly blind passes.
Over reliance on key players for creativity or goals (Kebe/Long)... although Leigerwood and Karacan did have shots.
Crossing into the box with nobody at the far side or even in the box

I would add Matt Mills hoofing the ball, but actually few of them went astray today.

Overall, there were plus points from today - We didn't roll over and came out fighting and 10 games ago our chances of making the playoffs were slim.

Remember Steve Coppell anyone? - He didn't even get us to the playoff final before he started the next season with a relatively unchanged side and took us to the league title with a record breaking 106 points.

If I was Reading manager the only players I would be having diciplinary words with are Zurab for the necessary shove that got him a yellow and Jay Tabb for getting a red card in the tunnel, obviously I don't know what happened there but if it warranted a card then it can not be ignored. Otherwise, players were playing to the best of their ability and giving 100% - If that isn't good enough, that's not their fault and something the manager and chairman need to address.

federici 5 - Couldnt do anything about 3 of the goals. Should have done better for the second.

Griffin 3 - Silly challenge to get booked early on and had me worried about him from the get go. Stupid challenge to give away the penalty topped off a very poor performance from one of the most experienced and usually reliable members of the squad. Let down today.

Mills 6 - Was our best defender today by far. Great headed goal. Think he was made to look alot worse than he actually was by the scoreline and the terrible performance by the rest of the defense.

Khiz 2 - Pretty much the same as Griffin except his early booking was even more silly and unnecessary...no need to get involved at all. Lucky to stay on the pitch when he gave the pen away. However, I still think he is a decent player and it would be good to have him next season. One bad game doesnt make a you a bad player.

Harte 3 - Has surprised everybody with how well he has coped this season but his lack of pace was really exposed and he got embarrassed today. I felt embarrassed for him in the build up to the second goal when he had a good 5 yards on dobbie but still managed to get beat to the ball.

Kebe 5/6 - Posed a threat every now and then but there wasnt enough of an end product. Could tell there wasnt much match practice.

Karacan 7 - I think our MOTM today. Ran his bollocks off as usual. Made some driving runs forward and was very unlucky to not get on the scoresheet and make the game level.

Leigertwood 6 - A decent all round performance from him. Had a good shot in the first half...shame it was straight at the keeper. I feel with a more creative player to play infront of him and karacan and we could have a very strong central midfield, competing for promotion next season.

Mcanuff 5/6 - Pretty ineffective for most of the game. Couple of good runs which ended in nothing. Did however get two assists from corners.

Hunt 6 - Some good running and movement. Shame the goal wont go down as his.

Long 5/6 - One of his more quiet games. Didnt get much change from the swansea defense despite alot of hard work. I would imagine its the last time we see him in a Reading shirt. Shame.

Subs:

Church 4 - Didnt do much when he came on. Would have preferred Manset to come on...at least he provides something different and has found the net a few times in the last few months. Maybe if Long does move on, Church can step up and be our main man?

HRK N/A - Didnt really have much time to make an impact.
