Pompey-Away

by KEBEISTHEGREATEST » 16 Aug 2011 21:47

Even though Reading have only beaten Pompey twice in 22 games. Today's game showed we lack cover for both Strikers and Wingers. We had one winger on the bench today... We had over 10 shots but only two shots troubled Jamie Ashdown. I have said the same thing since Shane Long left for West Brom. We need a new striker. Everyone has replyed saying Church will come strong. The lad hasn't even scored 10 goals for Reading in 2 years. Brett Williams even though we are working on him he is 26 years old there is no way you can create a decent 20+ goalscorer in the Championship. Reinvestment is required to take Reading back up to the big time.
Reading are on a slide and will do what Southampton have done. Gone down to League One reinvest, rebuild the club and look they scored 5 away from home. And my favourites to go up.
Reinvestment is the key to success.

Correct, he's scored 17.

So still only 17 goals. Can you seriously see him scoring 15+ goals in season. We need a new striker.

Yes, I can actually, seeing as he got 10 League goals in his debut one, starting only about 30 games.

I believe in Church, I've seen him be as good as Doyle but he wasn't even on the bnch for this game.

But then I don't fear the relegatiuon to League One after Norwich... and a few glasses of wine!

Church is weak his first touch is poor. Finishing is poor... We need a striker.
Manset can never play 90 mins. Hunt very injury prone. Kanu is a winger. Church is too woeful to be a footballer.

Lets buy: Paterson, Le Fondre or perhaps a premiership youngster.

As you can only have 5 subs on the bench and assuming you have a goalkeeper, why would you have more than 1 winger on the bench or have I misunderstood what you are saying?

It was a good game. End to end. But we just weren't good enough. We lacked any creativity And really could of done with more attacking options on the bench. In the car on te way back not happy with that tbh. Jobi is so predictable, get the ball on the wing run 5 yards cut back on to his right foot.
FEDS - MOTM
No one else really stood out but I thought Harte had a good game. And coming from me (Hartes biggest hater) is something. Though saying this to many corners went straight to Ashdown. Ref was good in the first half. Seriously degraded in the second. Thought we were in good voice.
