Have won again,

and have now gone 380minutes without conceding a goal.

Could be a bumper group of cheap signings on pro terms next year, lets hope so.

Who cares? We'll just sell them to other clubs who have ambition and we'll be left with the dregs. We just want to be the Crewe of the south.

This.

The top dogs at the club are annoyed Obita hasn't pushed on this season, he was the next chunk of black hole money for next season and thats seriously on the rocks at the moment.

Before the start of the 2014 season... Obita would have left for £9million...........Samuel for £6million.

Like I said Winchester ''left with the dregs''. Can you really see any other club wanting the majority of that little lot? I mean come on.

The only academy graduate we've sold to a 'bigger' club is Gylf.

But whatever you need to believe Sandy.

Ashdown left on a free, and Allaway has hardly been seem since.

You really are scraping the bottom of the barrel bringing those two up.

Who cares? Totally irrelevant, he was an academy player sold to a bigger club. You said sig had been the only one, that is twice the amount.

Allaway was ten years ago. He was last seen at Slough FC. If you want to be pedantic then fine. The fact that you've needed to bring him up just adds weight to my argument.

Anyway back to the original OP, it does seem like exciting times for our academy. FTR the U16 team is also beating most who come before them, so clearly there's a real depth of quality. Obviously not all will progress, but listening to David Dodds on the radio last week, it would appear that they have high hopes for several of those coming through.

Dunno about everyone else, but personally i find the prospect of a few more 17/18 year olds breaking through an exciting one.

As much as the results do look promising it's worth remembering that they're not the be all and end all at this level. I couldn't care less how many games they win if they don't produce decent players at the end of it.

I'm sure there will be some of this crop that get the Peter Castle and Simeon Howells treatment. They'll be built up to be the next big thing and then slip away unnoticed to play semi-pro and park football with their mates. Some, on the other hand, will flourish and hopefully get a decent chance at a career with Reading.

It's still a shame that we can't get access to watching these youngster play though. I used to like to take in a few youth games a season but since Hogwood was locked down I don't think that's possible anymore (unless that's changed?).

That doesn't mean they couldn't be disappointed he hasn't kicked on so far, it just means there's a reason why he hasn't.

Good news for the future, if we can produce one or two who break through into the first team every few years we're doing good.
